THE POSITION: The Assistant Principal position fulfills the mission of the Catholic parish and school by supporting the Principal in its daily operations. The assistant principal will be responsible for many essential duties, listed below, as well as have a particular focus in the academic excellence of the classrooms, as well as the vertical alignment of curriculum standards Pre-school through 8th grade. Experience in administration as well as academic coaching and curriculum development and implementation would be considered strengths for a candidate in this role. The position is hired and evaluated by the principal.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Assist in handling student discipline
- Substitute teach (if necessary)
- Participate in student admission process
- Plan school assemblies (as directed by principal)
- Academic coaching and classroom management support for classroom teachers
- Maintain substitute teacher list and coordinate substitutes for absent teachers
- Perform informal and formal observations of classroom teachers and
- Provide written feedback to teachers and principal
- Coordinate accreditation process
- Coordinate / order standardized testing
- Meet on a regular basis with Principal to coordinate responsibilities
- Assist in preparing academic school year calendar
- Order textbooks
- Coordinate the ordering of supplies
- Assist in the supervision and safety of students
- Arrange for and assist at faculty meetings
- Attend Assistant Principal meetings
- Attend grade level meetings
- Participate in interviewing process
- Participate on committees
- Orient new teachers
- Plan yearly staff development schedule with Principal
- Verify/Code all invoices
- Oversee and approve hourly employees' timecards
- Coordinate fund raising activities
- Apply for and manage Title II funds
- Prepare federal programs information
- Participate in grant writing
- Attend parent / teacher conferences
- Attend school advisory committee meetings
- Mediate between teacher and parents when necessary
- Attend PTO meetings
- Assume Principal’s duties in his/her absence
- Attend professional growth and development workshops necessary to fulfill assigned duties
- Keep license current
- And other duties as assigned by the Principal
Qualifications
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s degree required
- Valid administration and/or teaching license
- At least 3 years experience in school environment, especially in Catholic school
- Ability to maintain current CPR and 1st Aid certifications
- Ability to pass Criminal Record Background Clearance with no exemptions
- Maintain good physical health with the ability to perform job duties, lift 30 pounds, move quickly, bend, squat, kneel, sit on floor, reach overhead
- Ability to work cooperatively with other staff members, to accept supervision and to help promote a positive environment
- Excellent verbal communication skills, including clear speech enunciation, and accurate spoken English grammar that can serve as a good model for children who are developing their language skills
- Strong oral and written communication skills, including ability to present to groups and individuals about the organization’s mission
COMPETENCIES AND QUALIFICATIONS:
- Be a fully initiated Catholic in the communion of the Catholic Church and intentionally living out the five precepts of the Church (CCC 2041-2043);
- Refrain from promotion or approval of, or the living out of, any conduct or lifestyle that would reflect discredit or disgrace on, or cause scandal in relationship to, the Archdiocese of Denver, or considered to be in contradiction with Catholic doctrine or morals;
- Effective supervisory skills;
- Effective listening and verbal communication skills;
- Must have the necessary background and training in elementary education methods and subject areas;
- Must have understanding of child development skills necessary to relate to the students being taught;
- Must have appropriate control and discipline techniques to successfully manage a classroom;
- Must work cooperatively with school staff and administration;
- Sound judgment and decision-making skills;
- Knowledge of and willingness to implement safety and emergency procedures;
- Positive references and recommendations;
- Successfully pass a criminal background check.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Required to maintain composure and avoid inappropriate displays of emotion
- Required to sit, stand, bend, stoop, reach, grab, pull, hear, see, and speak on a daily basis

Salary : $55,000 - $80,000
