Job Description
The Assistant Principal Fellow(s) are school leaders who are either new to leadership or looking to join the Vega leadership team with external job experience. The fellow is focused on learning from various leaders and working side by side to understand, coach and lead in a variety of academies and contents school wide. They are focused on supporting teachers to deliver the most rigorous and joyful academic experience for our students that leads to exceptional academic gains. Fellow(s) play a central role in the success of the school and work closely with their Principal and other Assistant Principals in driving curriculum, assessment, and teacher development.
Leaders are essential to both staff and student culture and have a continuous improvement mindset. Leader Fellows shadow and work alongside current Principals and Assistant Principals to learn how to successfully lead and manage. They will work closely with their Principal in developing teachers skills and knowledge, driving curriculum, and studying data closely. Leaders must be open to feedback and coaching.
Job Responsibilities
Data Driven Instruction
- Conduct deep analysis of data in order to lead effective analysis meetings based on daily student work samples;
- Build grade level/content area action plans and materials to address data;
- Attend and eventually lead weekly data meetings with grade level teams and other leaders;
- Monitor grade-level progress against assessment cycle benchmarks.
Feedback and Teacher Development
- Live model and coach everyday by being present, positive, and proactive in all parts of the school day;
- Conduct daily observations, integrate feedback into planning meetings that lead to teacher and instructional leader development, and support implementation of action steps;
- Provide real-time feedback to teachers during instruction and contribute to teachers mid-year reviews;
- Plan and deliver high-quality professional development that trains staff members in Vegas curricular systems and key pedagogical issues;
- Plan and execute team meetings for grade-level or content-area staff.
Curriculum and Assessment
- Own organization-wide curriculum and assessment work based on content expertise such as lesson planning, assessment revisions, collaborative scoring, and/or network analysis;
- Facilitate assessment cycles including scheduling, quality assurance of assessment materials, and teacher/student preparation.

- Bachelors degree required.
- Leadership opportunities in past schools were highly preferred.
- 5 years teaching and working in classrooms and coaching teachers, preferably in urban schools and/or communities
- Experience at a high-performing charter school highly preferred but not required
Salary and Benefits
Vega Collegiate Academy offers a competitive salary and comprehensive health benefits package. The salary range for this role is $60,000 - $90,000.
Start Date
Vega Collegiate Academy staff will begin training and orientation in July, 2025
