The Parish Finance Manager provides support for the Pastor by fulfilling parish administrative needs involving primarily finance and personnel. The Finance Manager, together with the Pastor, Deacons, Facilities Director, and Pastoral Assistant, form the core management team that ensures pastoral and administrative needs of the parish are sustained. Confidentiality, flexibility and hospitality are three key elements that must be maintained at all times.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
All duties are to be performed in accordance with the guidelines of the Archdiocese of Denver.
Financial Responsibilities:
- Assumes responsibility for all aspects of financial recordkeeping including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, General Ledger, Payroll and Budget.
- Gathers departmental financial needs when preparing the annual budget;
- Review purchase requests for price competitiveness and funds availability;
- Ensures accurate recording of all income and expenses;
- Prepares financial statements, with explanatory notes, for the Pastor and Finance Council as needed;
- Processes bi-weekly payroll in a timely manner;
- Prepares and presents various reports to the Archdiocese of Denver;
- Provides donors with end of year Donor Substantiation report;
- Ensures that management of funds and financial files are in line with the Archdiocese of Denver Pastoral Handbook, section 10.
Personnel Management:
- Assists the Pastor with all areas of Personnel Management.
- Hire and supervise staff members;
- Prepare and revise job descriptions;
- Conduct background screenings;
- Serves as the first level of resolution of personnel concerns;
Information Technology:
- Maintains solid relationship with designated IT vendor and website designee;
- Coordinate with Facilities Director for specific hardware and connectivity issues;
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
- Proficient in Microsoft Office 365 software, especially Xcel, Word and Outlook
- Education and practical application in Accounting, Bachelor’s Degree preferred
- Relate well and communicate professionally and courteously with staff, volunteers, parishioners, children and vendors
- Self-motivated to work independently with little supervision
- Ability to maintain confidentiality in all matters
- Good problem solving and prioritization skills
- Maintains a neat appearance
WORK HOURS: Normal work hours are Monday through Thursday, 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM and 1:00 PM to 4:00PM, and Friday’s 9:00 AM – 2:00 PM unless otherwise specified by the Pastor. All work exceeding 29 hours per week must be approved, in-advance, by the Pastor.
