Position Overview:
Our Lady Queen of Martyrs, a Christ-centered Catholic community, is seeking a passionate and dedicated English Language Arts (ELA) teacher for the 2025-2026 school year. The ideal candidate will be a faith-filled educator who embraces and integrates Catholic values into the classroom, nurturing students’ spiritual, academic, and personal growth. This individual will demonstrate a commitment to fostering a learning environment where students develop strong communication skills, cultivate character, and grow as lifelong learners.
Key Responsibilities:
Instruction & Curriculum Delivery:
- Develop and implement engaging and comprehensive lesson plans that are aligned with state and diocesan standards, incorporating Catholic values and principles.
- Teach English Language Arts across various grade levels 6-8 with an emphasis on reading, writing, speaking, listening, and critical thinking skills.
- Integrate Catholic teachings and themes in literature, writing projects, and class discussions to foster moral and ethical development.
- Create and maintain a positive, inclusive, and respectful classroom environment that encourages all students to engage in the learning process.
Faith Integration:
- Integrate Catholic faith into daily lessons, using prayer, scripture, and Catholic traditions to support student development.
- Foster a classroom culture that reflects the teachings of Christ, emphasizing respect, empathy, and service to others.
- Participate in faith-based school activities, liturgies, and community service projects.
Assessment & Support:
- Assess student progress through a variety of formative and summative assessments and provide constructive feedback.
- Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse needs of students and offer additional support to those who may be struggling.
- Collaborate with colleagues, administrators, and families to support student success and well-being.
Professional Development & Collaboration:
- Engage in ongoing professional development to enhance teaching skills and stay current with best practices in ELA instruction.
- Actively participate in faculty meetings, school events, and the larger school community.
- Contribute to a supportive and collaborative teaching environment.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in English, Education, or a related field
- Current teaching certification, with endorsement in English Language Arts
- A strong commitment to the mission and values of Catholic education.
- Proven ability to create a positive, dynamic, and engaging classroom environment.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Passion for teaching and helping students grow academically, spiritually, and personally.
- Prior teaching experience in a Catholic school setting is a plus.
