JOB CLASSIFICATION : Exempt Full Time / Weekends

DEPARTMENT : Catholic Social Services, Women of Hope-VINE

Housing & Homeless Services Division

REPORTS TO : Program Director

DIRECT REPORTS : Mental Health Workers (MHW)

MAJOR JOB RESPONSIBILITIES : Responsible for overseeing the care, support, and medication administration of women with severe mental illness and a history of homelessness. The Mental Health Worker (MHW) Supervisor will ensure the training of and provide the supervision of Mental Health Workers. Will ensure shift coverage and assist in emergencies. Must complete and maintain certification for Personal Care Home Administrator. Completes and maintains the Train-the-Trainer Medication Administration certification. Completes and maintains annual Food Safety handling certification. Collaborate with Social Work Supervisor to manage medication administration and ensure compliance with policies. Maintains client and staff confidentiality in conformance with Agency confidentiality policy, professional standards, and State laws and regulations.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Supervise and monitor Mental Health Workers’ performance, provide ongoing training and support, and address any issues related to job performance.
  • Obtain and maintain Personal Care Home Administrator certification and completes 24 hours of continuing education as approved by Pennsylvania DHS annually.
  • Maintain scheduling and management of the staff calendar, ensuring regular shift coverage and coverage for call outs, holidays and vacations.
  • Obtain and maintain Train-the-Trainer Medication certification.
  • Is available to assist in any emergency / crisis with the residents.
  • Obtains and maintains food safety handling certification
  • Assists with the residents’ activities of daily living (ADL).
  • Monitor and ensure hourly rounds, logbook, and daily worksheets are completed.
  • Lead regular monthly team meetings (and emergency meeting when necessary).
  • Assist the Social Work Supervisor in overseeing medication administration policies and ensuring adherence to both organizational guidelines and regulatory standards.
  • Ensure that medication is distributed as per approved guidelines, in collaboration with the Social Work Supervisor.
  • Train MHW (direct care staff) on medication administration.
  • Coordinates schedule and execution of monthly fire drills.
  • Attend staff meetings, supervisory sessions and makes use of in-service opportunities.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned.
  • Maintains professional presence and behavior at all times.
  • Provides a welcoming environment to visitors and volunteers

Qualifications :

  • BA, BS, BSW with experience working with individuals experiencing mental illness and homelessness.
  • At least 1-3 years supervisory experience
  • Knowledge and orientation of philosophy of the Agency as presented in Mission / Philosophy Statements.
  • Has a desire, interest and ability to work with women with severe mental illness and a history of homelessness.
  • Works well with others; is flexible and hospitable
  • Holds or able to obtain certification in safe food handling.
  • Holds or able to obtain certification in CPR and first aid.
  • Has or able to complete the Direct Care Training for PCH and has received the DPW certificate.
  • Has or able to complete the state’s medication administration training along with additional Women of Hope medication Training to be qualified to distribute medications.
  • Has or able to complete the state’s medication Train the Trainer certification.
  • Have or will complete the PCH administrator certification training.
  • Has excellent organizational skills, is flexible, hospitable, and able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to respond positively to changing priorities
  • Good judgement and communication (oral and written) skills
  • Ability to supervise, evaluate and direct MHW team.
  • Ability to apply and ensure rules and regulations are upheld.
  • Ability to maintain professional boundaries and behavior
