Schedule: ex: Monday – Friday 7:30 am – 4:30pm / 40 hours per week. May occasionally be required to work a weekend or evening school event.

The Custodian fulfills the mission of the parish and school by maintaining a neat, clean, safe, and organized environment, proactively cleaning, sanitizing and maintaining clean school and office facilities throughout each school day.

Essential Functions / Job Duties
- Support and adhere to the religious standards, policies and procedures of the Catholic Church and the Archdiocese.
- Work joyfully around children and school staff daily.
- Develop a schedule and clean throughout each school day to ensure the cleanliness of all areas of the school at all times.
- Clean classrooms, workrooms, kitchens, hallways and restrooms throughout the school day, including sweeping, dusting and mopping.
- Clean and disinfect restrooms throughout the school day, and replenish supplies.
- Set up, clean and put away lunch tables.
- Maintain cleanliness of exterior entrances and walkways
- Remove trash from all trash containers within the school daily, or as scheduled.
- Conduct emergency clean ups promptly upon notice.
- Conduct weekly, monthly and seasonal cleaning as directed.
- Periodically disinfect door handles, telephones, switch plates and trash receptacles.
- Assist with the set up and clean-up for meetings and special events.
- Adhere to applicable safety measures and precautions in cleaning practices.
- Maintain the security of issued keys. Secure buildings and turn off lights to conserve energy.
- Communicate effectively with management to address issues or problem areas.
- Communicate and collaborate effectively with staff/faculty to address cleaning needs/requests.
- Ensure cleaning supplies are adequately stocked.
- Protect the confidentiality of any information or material obtained in the performance of duties.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Minimum 2 years custodial work experience; in elementary school setting strongly preferred.
- Sufficient education and literacy needed to identify and read product labels and to communicate with staff about expected duties.
- Working knowledge of cleaning chemicals, supplies and equipment use.
- Required to lift or carry furniture, equipment, and supplies
- Required to maintain composure and avoid inappropriate displays of anger
- Required to perform strenuous walking, stooping, bending, pulling and pushing, climbing, twisting, grasping, and reaching overhead
- Required to hear, see, and speak on a daily basis
- Required to work with chemicals, exposure to dust, and slippery and uneven walking surfaces
- Required to work in various climate conditions
