The Manager OSP Engineering is part of Archtop Fiber’s OSP Construction and Engineering team and will support our Outside Plant (OSP) design & engineering, and GIS mapping needs. This position will work closely with the Director of OSP Construction and others in senior leadership to establish and maintain Archtop’s plant infrastructure, including our 100% fiber optic cable plant and network hub site buildings, cabinets, and colocations. The Manager will manage an internal team that includes OSP Engineering and GIS.
What you’ll do:
· Leverage knowledge of OSP engineering and OSP construction to create and maintain all related infrastructure.
· Work collaboratively and proactively with all Archtop teams along with A&E and construction Vendors.
· Manage a team to support Archtop’s long-term OSP Engineering, GIS, and OSP Project Management needs in a manner that aligns with Archtop project plans.
· Manage Vetro (GIS / inventory mapping system) which creates detailed documentation of Archtop’s infrastructure and topologies.
· Develop, implement, and maintain OSP Engineering Best Practice documentation to govern our design and deployment methodologies. Must align with generally accepted industry practices.
· Spearhead new plant installations by accurately, thoroughly, and efficiently detailing requirements to stakeholders. Accuracy is a must. Construction drawings, splicing diagrams, documentation, and other required materials.
· Prepare and present weekly Engineering progress reports.
· Participate in network planning and network deployment strategies development.
· Provide assistance, as needed to other teams for implementation, troubleshooting, and repair of network connections and customer deployments.
What you’ll bring:
· “Can do” attitude and a desire to help others. Must foster a team environment approach and be willing to participate at all levels.
· 7 - 10 years of experience in leadership roles within a Service Provider environment. Experience in construction environments is a plus.
· Four-year degree preferred but not mandatory. Consideration based on years of experience.
· Demonstrated abilities to manage internal and external resources.
· Comfortable working with all levels of internal management, external trusted partners, community stakeholders, and governmental officials.
· Detailed knowledge of all areas of OSP Engineering. Must be able to manage, mentor, coach, and instruct internal teams accordingly.
· Thorough knowledge of easements, rights-of-way, permitting, and other requirements associated with the use of public and private property.
· Thorough knowledge of other utilities and related utilities infrastructure.
· Detailed knowledge of FTTx and PON designs, including both centralized and distributed splits and splicing architectures.
· Working knowledge of OSP construction practices, including aerial plant, buried plant, underground plant, and related NESC and OSHA approved practices.
· The ability to work independently under minimal supervision – must be driven and be able to define work tasks based upon project goal and corporate objectives.
· Must have strong communications skills – verbal and written.
· Demonstrated ability to thrive in a team environment. This includes the willingness and desire to share information, work collaboratively, and help others – both inside and outside of the Engineering & Technology group.
