Archuleta County is seeking a qualified Deputy Treasurer Clerk. Our Deputy Treasurer Clerk earns a competitive wage of $19.48 per hour, plus an excellent benefit package, including medical, dental, and vision coverage, 401(a) retirement plan, County will match employee contribution up to 7%, paid holidays, PTO and Life / AD&D insurance.

JOB SUMMARY
Under general direction of the County Treasurer, receives all money coming into the county. Is custodian of the Treasurer Ledger reflecting all cash activity of the County. Manages all aspects of the tax payment process, including billing, tax accounts receivable, and collection of delinquent taxes. Continually improves the tax billing, receiving, and collection processes using technology to drive down costs and improve customer satisfaction. This position requires a high degree of customer service and conflict resolution skills. Is primary contact with the external customer in person and on the telephone.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Provides front desk customer assistance. Researches and answers questions related to tax payments, due dates, liens, deeds, and related processes.
- Receives and processes tax payments, interest, fees, and related charges. Performs cash handling duties and balancing activities including daily, monthly, and year-end closing activities. Completes activity documentation. Generates required reports.
- Answers incoming calls, responds to requests for information, and / or routes calls to appropriate department / staff.
- Receives and processes payments collected by other County departments.
- Processes mobile home authentications and moving permits.
- Provides information to the public regarding County held tax liens and the assignment process. Collects liens, taxes due, and related penalties and fees.
- Assists other Treasurer staff by performing back-up duties, processing incoming / outgoing mail, maintaining and tracking information, responding to inquiries, and researching records.
- Performs clerical duties including maintaining and updating tax records, filing, and data entry.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities may be qualifying.
Education :
High school or GED diploma.
Experience :
Three years professional experience in finance, accounting, or treasury OR
Three years employment experience in a County Treasurer Office, Colorado preferred
