Board Treasurer – Homestead Hero’s
Position Type: Volunteer (5 hours per week) – Paid upon nonprofit establishment

About Homestead Hero’s:
Homestead Hero’s is a 501(c)(19) nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting homeless veterans by providing housing, resources, and community support. Our mission is to ensure no veteran is left without the care and stability they deserve.
Position Overview:
The Board Treasurer plays a critical role in overseeing the financial health and integrity of Homestead Hero’s. This position is responsible for managing the organization's financial records, budgets, and compliance with nonprofit financial regulations. A commitment of at least 5 volunteer hours per week is required, with the role transitioning into a paid position once the organization is financially established.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain accurate financial records and oversee bookkeeping processes.
- Develop and monitor budgets, ensuring responsible financial management.
- Track incoming donations, grants, and expenses in compliance with nonprofit accounting standards.
- Prepare and present financial reports to the board at regular meetings.
- Assist with grant applications and reporting financial data for funding opportunities.
- Ensure compliance with IRS regulations and state/federal financial reporting requirements.
- Coordinate with accountants, auditors, and tax professionals as needed.
- Work closely with the Board Chair and fundraising teams to develop financial strategies.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Experience in finance, accounting, bookkeeping, or nonprofit financial management.
- Knowledge of nonprofit accounting principles (preferred but not required).
- Strong attention to detail and financial integrity.
- Ability to analyze financial data and present reports clearly.
- Familiarity with accounting software or willingness to learn.
- Passion for supporting veterans and the mission of Homestead Hero’s.
Commitment & Compensation:
- Time Commitment: Minimum of 5 volunteer hours per week.
- Compensation: This role is currently unpaid but will transition into a paid position once the nonprofit is financially established.
