What are the responsibilities and job description for the Application Engineer position at Arcmed?
The Applications Engineer will be responsible for designing and developing new and revised products for new and existing customers.
- MUST HAVE MANUFACTURING EXPERIENCE
- Expand, support and initiate long term technical relationships with key OEM customers
- OEM management including communication, quality reports, engineering technical support and custom design
- Develop the project plan and then control the project, coordinating activity and reporting on progress to goals according to procedures
- Assist design and manufacturing in the development of new and/or revised product according to customer requirements
- Perform design work modifying existing products to meet customer specifications
- Design and conduct or oversee verification tests
- Develop the cost of goods sold for quotations
- Provide timely reports summarizing findings on a given product, project or territory
- Provide technical training of customers in products as required
- Assist and train sales team in adapting current and new products to customer needs to ensure satisfaction
- Support product sales plans relating to costing, life cycle and forecasting
- Provide technical support to sales and customer service on existing products and new inquires as needed.
- Investigate market needs for innovative products and communicate them to R&D Engineering for product development
- Conduct market research through trade associations, internet investigation and corporate services
- Work as directed by Manager
Education and Technical Training
- Bachelor’s Degree required in Engineering
- Strong verbal and written communications skills and proven ability to lead others from project initiation to closure
- Project Management and Leadership Skills
- Five years’ experience working in medical or life science markets
- Technical knowledge and experience with fluid power systems
- 3D CAD experience with SolidWorks or similar, FEA, Fluidics, and Thermal Analysis a plus
- Experience with clinical diagnostics and/or analytical chemistry instrumentation
- Experience with positive displacement pumps, diaphragm, and/or pinch valves
- Regulatory experience (FDA, UL, CSA, CE) a plus
- Electrical background in control and/or sensor implementation a plus
- Ability to work with minimal supervision
Computer/Software Requirements:
- Working knowledge of Epicor, Sage 100, and/or other similar accounting software systems.
- Microsoft: Office 365; SharePoint; Teams; Visio; and OneNote preferred.
- Working knowledge of UKG-UltiPro and Workday a plus.
- Ability to operate media equipment such as tablets, smartphones, and other electronic equipment.
- Ability to work with general office equipment.
- Ability to work with and understand databases a must and the ability to learn technical skills.
Physical Requirements:
- Shall have essential physical skills; be able to run, squat, stoop/bend, kneel, climb stairs, be able to lift at least 50 pounds (or ¼ own body weight).
- Shall have adequate vision, reading, writing, and documentation skills, and hearing to perform the essential functions of the job.
- Must have enough endurance to perform tasks over long periods of time.
- Will be engaged in speaking, sitting, walking, driving, listening, and in communicating both orally and in writing while performing his or her duties.
- Must be able to listen and respond to questions and instructions.
