The Procurement Manager is responsible for the purchasing of Direct Materials and Indirect Products & Services. Manage cost activities and sourcing projects as assigned. Interact with the location (Production Control, Manufacturing, Maintenance, IT, Finance, Quality), other Kawneer sites (US, Canada), Corporate Commodity Managers and the Director of Procurement.
Primary Responsibilities
- Achieve cost savings via negotiations with suppliers for site spend, conducting competitive bids for capital and commodity projects. Working with internal stakeholders to implement productivity improvement and sourcing project initiatives.
- Support manufacturing operations by escalating and resolving supply and service issues with Suppliers.
- Work with internal stakeholders to optimize requisition to payment processes, qualify alternative suppliers and manage supply risks.
- Achieve Site specific Procurement targets on spending, weighted average vendor pay terms and supplier performance
- Develop and maintain constructive business relationships with key suppliers.
- Develop and execute sourcing strategies to arrive at the best total value solution for the company.
- Lead non-commercial events as required to meet objectives, including, but not limited to Kaizen workshops and Working Capital/Inventory Workshops.
- Interface with other Procurement Operations Managers at each Arconic manufacturing site in the U.S. to develop and leverage in depth understanding of purchasing processes, critical material sourcing and savings initiatives.
- Work proactively with Category Managers to implement key strategic initiatives in all areas of spend.
- Fulfill auditing and compliance requirements related to Procurement processes.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited Institution. (Engineering, finance, business, or supply chain preferred)
- 5-10 years previous work experience in purchasing and/or supply chain management.
- Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of Hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional Certification - Certified Purchasing Manager (CPIM, CPM or CSCP) is preferred.
- JD Edwards or Oracle Experience
- Demonstrated flexibility over multiple categories and suppliers
- Communication and negotiation skills
- Project Management, able to manage resources and timelines
- Strong financial and business acumen.
- Innovative, Strategic thinker.
- Technical proficiency required, ability to read prints and understand complex manufacturing processes
