Meyer Utility Structures is currently looking to hire a Cost Accountant for our plant operation located in Hager City, WI. Reporting to Plant Controller, the Cost Accountant will support the facility by working with Finance, Operations, Materials, and HR to provide accurate production costs and financial information via transactional analysis, system reconciliation, cost variance reviews, and report preparation. The Cost Accountant will assist senior management and Plant Controller in data mining cost, payroll, labor, spend, time and overtime, FTEs to costing, end of month tracking, accruing, balancing, calculating and resolution and will perform general accounting and operational administration as needed. This position will work indirectly to support other functional leaders also.

What You’ll Do:
- Position assists the Plant Controller with weekly, monthly & annual financial reporting & monthly close reporting.
- Responsible for collecting, validating and processing cost information including material costs and shop floor labor data.
- Combine information from multiple systems to perform variance analysis to enhance plant activities, drive continuous improvements in the plant & control expenses.
- Perform month-end closing responsibilities such as journal entries, account reconciliations, job closing analysis, reporting to department managers & division management
- Assist in the forecasting and annual budget process.
- Aid in the preparation of capital expenditures request & financial analysis, maintain the fixed asset sub ledger and prepare monthly capital reports.
- Lead improvements in streamlining of accounting and reporting processes to maximize the contribution to the unit and Corporate strategic and tactical business goals.
- Analyze data pertaining to plant metrics to include plant production efficiencies, productivity, working capital management, plant profitability, & other measures.
- Assist Plant Controller to ensure all accounting activity is in accordance with GAAP and all business processes are in accordance with MUS and Arcosa Standard Control Guidelines / internal controls.
- Work with division management to ensure that revenue is properly recognized in accordance with GAAP.
- Support/backup Production Operations, Accounts Payable, Payroll, Materials, and Information Technology functions as necessary.
- Coordinate Kronos and JobScope labor hours collection, entry, and validation.
- Monitor inbound and outbound freight expenses, ensure accuracy, and timely processing and capture of invoices.
- Oversee inventory accuracy. Research differences between inventory sub ledger and general ledger. Work with Materials Department to resolve discrepancies as required.
- Special projects as needed.
What You’ll Need:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience with at least 5 years prior relevant experience (preferably in a manufacturing environment)
- Advanced computer skills and familiarity with ERP and other key operating systems (JobScope JEE and Oracle is preferred).
- Strong Excel skills – including expertise in use of Vlookups, Pivot Tables, and Macros.
- Previous experience working in an environment with a union workforce is desirable.
- Advanced math and calculating skills such as CPA or similar is a plus.
- Previous experience working in Kronos or ADP type payroll system is a plus.
- Ability to communicate effectively both written and orally.
