Job Summary:
Arcosa Aggregates is seeking an Environmental, Health & Safety (EH&S) Summer 2025 Intern to support our operations in the Gulf Coast region (Hammond, LA). This internship offers a hands-on opportunity to gain practical experience in EH&S compliance, environmental management, and site safety practices within the aggregates industry. The intern will assist with environmental assessments, regulatory compliance efforts, and field projects related to permitting, hydrology, and erosion control.
Day to Day:
- Assist in conducting environmental site assessments, inspections, and audits to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
- Support EH&S team with implementation of safety programs, hazard assessments, and incident investigations/reporting.
- Work on projects related to stormwater management, erosion control, and reclamation planning.
- Analyze hydrological data to assist in site drainage planning and environmental impact assessments.
- Participate in training initiatives and safety meetings to promote a strong safety culture.
- Help maintain and update EH&S documentation, permitting efforts, and compliance reports.
- Get hands-on experience with the processes of land use, planning, and construction activities pertaining to sand and gravel mining.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including operations and engineering, to support sustainability and environmental stewardship initiatives.
About You:
- Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree program in Environmental Science, Geology, Occupational Safety, Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering or a related field.
- Junior or Senior undergraduate preferred.
- Knowledge of hydrology, erosion control, environmental regulations and stormwater management is a plus.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
- Ability to work in an outdoor environment and travel to various field locations as needed while accompanied by EHS staff.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with GIS or AutoCAD is a plus.
