What are the responsibilities and job description for the Door Shop Technician position at Arctic Slope Regional Corporation?
The Door Shop Technician is a member of the millwork division at Builders Choice Lumber with the responsibility for the accurate assembly, fabrication and installation of doors to customer specifications. This position reports to the Millwork Production Supervisor.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Self-starter. Once trained, we expect employees to carry out their daily tasks with minimal supervision.
- Accurately read and understand build sheets to determine dimensions, design details, and material requirements for each door.
- Operate power tools like table saws, chop saws, radial arm saws, worm drive saws and routers to precisely cut and shape wood components according to the design specifications.
- Verify measurements and ensure all components fit together properly before final assembly to maintain high quality standards.
- Set up and operate door machinery, such as a CNC machine, beveler, assembler, etc.
- Select appropriate jamb stock and hardware based on job requirements and client preferences.
- Ensure every door that is made has no flaws and/or damage before it leaves the door shop.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.

- Ability to work varied hours with overtime as needed, including weekends and holidays.

QUALIFICATIONS
Required
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 2 years of related experience
- Ability to obtain a forklift certification within 30 days of hire.
- Ability to work outside or in a cold environment for long durations.
- Ability to work varying hours and overtime as required by the position.
Preferred
- Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
- Prior forklift experience

The work environment is in a busy construction setting. The noise level in the work environment usually varies. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions and may be required to travel in small and large commercial aircraft.
