What are the responsibilities and job description for the Heavy Duty Mechanic DOT/FMCSA position at Arctic Slope Regional Corporation?
The Heavy Duty Mechanic is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining heavy construction vehicles and equipment. The HD Mechanic reports directly to the Lead shift mechanic or the shop Foreman.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Inspect heavy vehicles and equipment to diagnose malfunctions.
- Proficient with CAT ET / Cummins INSITE / Volvo Prosis.
- Proficient with after-treatment and electronic system repairs and troubleshooting.
- Prefer minimum 5 years Caterpillar / Volvo heavy equipment experience and Cummins engine experience, also looking for specific experience with hydraulic rough terrain cranes from Grove, Link-Belt or Tadano.
- Repair heavy construction vehicles and equipment such as bulldozers, cranes, end dumps, front-end loaders, motor graders, tractor-trailers, vac trailers, water trucks, and other heavy equipment.
- Adjust, repair, and replace engines, fuel systems, hydraulic and electrical systems, brakes, suspension, steering, and transmissions.
- Disassemble and assemble vehicles and equipment parts using hoists, hand tools, pneumatic and electric tools and instruments.
- Perform routine maintenance on vehicles and equipment, including lubrication and oil changes in accordance with maintenance schedules.
- Operate vehicles and equipment to diagnose and ensure operating efficiency.
- Clean and maintain equipment, tools, and the general work area.
- Prepare and maintain inventory of supplies and equipment.
- Supervise apprentice workers engaged in heavy vehicle and equipment repair work.
- Comply with Company and customer policies and procedures.
- Support ACHC zero-incident safety culture and assume personal accountability and responsibility for safe work practices in all projects, activities, and operations.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
