Controls Technician (START ASAP)

Job Overview:We are seeking a skilled Controls Technician to design, install, and maintain electrical, mechanical, and computer-controlled systems. In this role, you will support manufacturing operations, improve equipment functionality, and implement new technologies like PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, and robotics.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and maintain control systems for machine tools, including electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic components.
• Update and maintain electrical and program documentation.
• Install, troubleshoot, and update machine logic programs, software, and hardware.
• Train and support maintenance personnel in troubleshooting and repairing production equipment.
• Assist in selecting and installing capital equipment for manufacturing processes.
• Improve existing machine tools to boost uptime, quality, and productivity.
• Provide engineering support to optimize production equipment and processes.
• Contribute to cost-saving initiatives to meet plant goals.
• Advise on improvements to preventative maintenance programs.
• Authorize and approve changes to machine tool programs.
• Ensure compliance with Quality Management and Environmental Management Systems.

Qualifications:

• Associate’s degree in a technical field or 5 years of relevant work experience.
• Experience with programming and designing control systems (PCs, PLCs, electrical, and pneumatic components).
• Proficient in troubleshooting and debugging SLC 500, ControlLogix, Omron, CNC/NC controls, and HMI systems.
• Knowledge of automation network interfaces (Ethernet, DeviceNet, ControlNet).
• Familiarity with machine vision setup and programming (preferred).
• Understanding of NEC code and AutoCAD (preferred).
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
• Experience with continuous improvement practices (e.g., Kaizen, TPM, 5S) is a plus.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $30.00 - $38.00 per hour

Schedule:

• 8 hour shift
• Evening shift
