Role Description
The Transportation Coordinator is responsible for maximizing carrier capacity for each lane through carrier development and working in alignment with customer service, production planning, and plant/warehouse shipping personnel to coordinate all shipments in the most cost-effective and timely manner possible. Occasionally this position will be asked to engage in negotiations with carriers for pricing and/or services, and then work with the sourcing team to implement rates and/or services.

Occasionally this position will be asked to engage in negotiations with carriers for pricing and/or services, and then work with the sourcing team to implement rates and/or services.
Responsibilities
- Manage the transportation management system (TMS) to tender loads, post and reward spot quotes, identify exceptions and cost savings, maintain route guides, update rates, and assign carriers
- Work closely with the sourcing team to populate rates in TMS
- Secure capacity with carriers to operate effectively in a high service environment
- Communicate with internal and external customers regarding production need dates, inventory availability, shipment lead time, and load status
- Create, build, and maintain good relationships with sales representatives and dispatchers within the transportation industry
- Provide service updates and route freight as needed after hours and on weekends
- Monitor and react to transportation-related issues for assigned plants and outside warehouses including continuous moves, spot quotes, and tender redirection
- Execute limited cullet inbound shipments from pickup to delivery and tendering of dunnage loads from customers to third-party sort centers
- Bachelor's degree in logistics, supply chain management, business administration, or a related field
- Three (3) years of logistics and transportation experience
- Ability to provide customer service during after hours and weekends as needed
- Knowledge of various transportation management systems
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
- Ability to travel up to 10%
- Previous transportation dispatch and brokerage experience
