The Electrical Technician role is with the Ardent Data Center business of the Northern Data Group. Ardent is rapidly growing globally, and the United States is one of strategic focal points for our expansion initiatives. This role is based in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES:
- You will be the electrical subject matter expert for the data center facility and equipment. Responsibilities will include electrical/critical power distribution across the utility, generator, transformers, switchgear, power distribution units, UPS, and facility power devices and systems
- Completes all preventive and ad hoc maintenance protocols, plans, activities on time and accurately, including daily, weekly and monthly site checks
- Work with the site Data Center Site Manager to create preventive maintenance plans and track and complete preventive and predicative maintenance schedules
- Manage systems to avoid unplanned, customer-impacting outages
- Develops and maintains relevant standard operating procedures (SOP)
- Manages and coordinates vendors as needed
- Utilizes ticketing and work order systems to successfully identify and resolve problems and maintenance items
- Performs and documents root cause analysis on critical equipment
- Ensures that sufficient spare parts are available on site for frequently used parts or parts with long lead times and maintains critical spares register
- Monitors for and responds to BMS (Building Monitoring System) alarms in accordance with engineering policies and procedures, escalating to site management
- Manages the work approval process for service providers (including briefing at the start of work, control of work during the day, final review of the work carried out)
- Ensures that all safety standards are followed, as well quality procedures related to maintenance, including all Incident Management
YOUR REQUIREMENTS:
- Minimum of 5-7 years of relevant experience
- Electrical Degree or Electrical Trade Certification is a must
- Licensed journeyman or master electrician is required
- Expert understanding of all electrical systems and working knowledge of mechanical systems used in a data center environment
- Proficiency in troubleshooting and repairing complex electrical systems
- Expert knowledge in industrial safety best practices (i.e. lockout/tag out, arc flash protection, OSHA and state regulations)
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure in time- sensitive situations
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Proven ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize workload effectively.
- Collaborative mindset but also with the drive to complete assigned tasks autonomously when required
- You perform all essential job functions, including walking, standing, bending, stooping, climbing, lifting and manual dexterity, with or without reasonable accommodation and you can lift or move heavy equipment/items up to 50 pound or greater
