Who You Will Be Supporting
In this role you will have the amazing opportunity to support K.W.
- K.W. enjoys shopping for her personal needs.
- K.W. cares about how she looks and is up to date on fashion trends and hairstyles.
- K.W. is eager to participate in activities within her community and would like to know how to successfully accomplish certain independent living skills in her home and in the community.
- She is willing to learn new things and engage in new activities.
Responsibilities We’ll Help You Master
- Support individuals in achieving their personal goals and fulfilling their dreams by having a “person-centered” focus.
- Teach independent living and daily skills to the persons served by identifying and meeting social, environmental, and health care needs such as daily grooming and personal care routines.
- Actively plans, coordinates, and participates with residents in social activities including frequent community outings.
- Instructs, supports and participates in performing household tasks with persons served such as cleaning, preparing meals, food shopping, etc.
The Ideal Candidate
- Earned High School Diploma or GED from an accredited educational institution.
- Able to communicate effectively with the individuals to whom services are provided.
- Should have experience working with people with intellectual disabilities or with other types of special needs populations.
- Have patience and positive coaching skills to assist KW with successfully reaching her goals.
- Enjoy being active and proactively partner with KW while engaging in activities, events and volunteer efforts of choice.
- Be resourceful in researching community activities.
