The Production Pharmacist participates in the functions of the pharmacy operational process, completing prescription order verification and assisting in the production workflow. - Reviews and interprets physician orders for accuracy, appropriateness, and effectiveness.
- Detects therapeutic incompatibilities and advises interventions.
- Uses available resources to gather information on drugs, equipment, and patient monitoring.
- Completes quality control check on prescriptions ensuring all policies, procedures, and laws are followed.
- Assists in the maintenance and cleaning of pharmacy work areas, and the completion of quality control and performance improvement procedures as requested by the PIC.
- Possesses specialized skills to accept, check, and answer questions concerning prescriptions.
- Acts as a resource to physicians, referral sources, and other Ardon employees regarding potential adverse reactions and interactions related to drugs dispensed.
- As a clinical expert, the production pharmacist stays knowledgeable of current clinical issues, industry practice standards, safety concerns, and accreditation standards and incorporates them into daily practice.
- Maintains appropriate documentation of the care delivered to consumers and of drug prescriptions as described in policies and procedures and as mandated by individual state Board of Pharmacy requirements.
- Completes pharmacy operational requirements by organizing and directing technicians' workflow as appropriate and verifying their preparation and labeling of pharmaceuticals.
- Completes assigned paperwork/document as directed in a timely manner.
- Calls physician’s offices for clarification on any orders or prescriptions written by the physician, and obtains all information to ensure efficient, accurate, and safe dispensing of medications to the patient.
- Establishes and maintains effective professional relationships with prescribers.
- Enforces all state, federal, and local laws pertaining to drug dispensing and patient information, as well as company policies and procedures.
- Possesses communication skills to work effectively with all internal and external customers.
- Works well with various personalities and able to work as a team.
- Reports errors to supervisor as soon as possible, and within the same business day.
- Is responsible for facility and pharmacy area security and oversight of pharmacy technicians and support staff, in accordance with state and federal regulations.
- Obtains certifications and pharmacist licensure in additional states as requested to meet business needs.
- Remains dependable and maintains appropriate levels of confidentiality.
- Possesses the ability to recognize needs of and express concern for people.
- Actively participates and provides support as needed to leadership and quality program staff to ensure activities related to the company’s quality management program and quality improvement activities maintain priority focus and are effectively executed. This may include but is not limited to activities that promote objective and systematic measurement, monitoring, and evaluation of services and defined Quality Improvement Projects (QIPs) that may result from such efforts.
- Maintains active Oregon license. Informs supervisor within 1 business day (and Oregon Board of Pharmacy within 10 days) of any arrests, convictions, suspected or known violations of law, or any other conduct that might affect or has affected license status. Reports to Oregon Board of Pharmacy within 15 days any changes to name, residence address, or employment.
- Notifies supervisor within 1 business day of any changes to pharmacist licensure status in any other state where a pharmacist license is held.
- Complies with the company’s Human Resources policies, Employee Handbook, Code of Conduct, and all department policies and procedures, including protecting confidential company, employee, and customer information; attending work punctually and regularly; and adhering to good safety practices in all activities.

- Education/Experience:
- Required:
- Degree from college of pharmacy
- Active Oregon Pharmacist license
- Preferred:
- Four to six years related experience working in a pharmacy.
- One or more years related experience working in a specialty pharmacy.

- Must be able to respond effectively to sensitive inquiries or complaints.
- Must have excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Must be able to express oneself, detect, perceive, observe, and assess information exchanged in a variety of communication methods.

- Must be able to comprehend and apply principles of advanced calculus, modern algebra, and advanced statistical theory as it relates to patient disease states and medication therapy.

- Working conditions
- Work is performed in a pharmacy environment, with extensive keyboard and computer work.
