We are recruiting a Production Pharmacist Supervisor to join our team of health care professionals. The Production Pharmacist Supervisor serves as company’s supervisor to pharmacy production personnel and provides leadership and guidance to ensure safe, efficient, and compliant pharmacy production operations. This position coordinates closely with senior department personnel to ensure effective workflow and fulfillment of patient medication shipments as scheduled, as well as provides guidance to escalations and addresses performance improvement opportunities. This position is responsible for ensuring sufficient production pharmacist coverage, directly supporting as necessary. This role works closely with the pharmacist leadership team to ensure redundancy, participate in business initiatives, and foster continuous improvement of patient care. The Production Pharmacist Supervisor maintains knowledge and awareness of supply chain, inventory, invoicing, and procurement processes and provides oversight as needed.

Job type : Full-time

Pay range : $140,144.44 - $178,685.85 ​​​​annually, depending on experience. Actual pay is based on qualifications. Applicants who do not exceed the minimum qualifications will only be eligible for the low end of the pay range.

  • Five years’ related experience working in a pharmacy

  • Four or more years leadership experience and / or fulfilling PIC duties
  • One or more years’ experience working in a specialty pharmacy

  • Working conditions
  • Work is performed in a pharmacy environment, with extensive keyboard and computer work. Work also involves frequent moving of packaging, boxes, and items from different areas within the warehouse. Packaging supplies weighing 40 pounds are regularly moved from the freezer to workstations.

  • Business needs may occasionally require work in excess of 40 hours per week, including work outside of standard work week.

  • Essential functions and activities :

  • Serves as company’s pharmacy production personnel supervisor. Ensures staff compliance with company and departmental policies. With support of senior pharmacy personnel, coaches and develops staff to ensure provision of high-quality services while promoting employee growth and engagement.
  • Responsible for overseeing and ensuring accurate completion of pharmacy processes and fulfillment of orders according to established timelines, leveraging support from senior departmental personnel.
  • Provides additional layer of support, oversight, and continuity to core pharmacist responsibilities in the pharmacy production area, including but not limited to :
  • Directing pharmacy production staff throughout the day to maintain safe and efficient workflow.

  • Ensuring staff adherence to policies, procedures, and best practices.
  • Responsibility for overseeing appropriate and compliant use of pharmacy technology, equipment, medication storage, security, and pharmacy and warehouse spaces.
  • Overseeing medication storage, receiving, and inventory personnel processes.
  • Responsible for ensuring sufficient production pharmacist coverage, directly supporting as necessary.
  • Effectively delegates to senior personnel to support tasks such as workflow oversight, training, process documentation, vendor coordination, team schedule creation, metric gathering, and equipment and technology use.
  • Demonstrates fiscal responsibility including use of resources, equipment, and minimization of product loss. Guides analyses to monitor and improve departmental fiscal performance.
  • Directly participates in pharmacist assignments as needed, with a focus on product verification.
  • Works closely with pharmacist leadership team to balance tasks across operations, ensure coverage in key areas, and participate in business initiatives.
  • Ensures that expectations and updates are communicated to team regularly. Provides oversight to department and staff meetings.
  • Provides guidance to develop and refine department metrics and key performance indicators. Receives performance updates from senior personnel and provides oversight to improvement plans.
  • Supports Pharmacist-In-Charge to ensure operational adherence to all applicable state, federal, and local laws, as well as company policies and procedures.
  • Obtains pharmacist licensure in other states as requested to meet business needs.
  • Maintains patient safety as the top priority.
  • Stays knowledgeable in current clinical topics, applicable pharmacy regulations, industry practice standards, and accreditation standards, and incorporates them into daily practice.
  • Collaborates closely with fellow departmental leaders to achieve a shared goal of optimal workflow and continuous quality improvement.
  • Under the oversight of the Pharmacist-In-Charge (PIC), is responsible for ensuring creation, revision, and maintenance of all pharmacy production standard operating procedures and reference materials.
  • Supports coordination and preceptorship of student experiences as needed.
  • Understands requirements and oversees processes to achieve successful shipping temperature validation and seasonal packout implementation.
  • Ensures thorough and effective tracking, evaluation, and documentation of quality events and reshipped and returned prescription orders.
  • Ensures staff adherence to safety protocols including but not limited to hazardous material handling and use of appropriate techniques for equipment use, lifting, and performance of assigned tasks.
  • Provides on-call support as requested to ensure security of pharmacy, proper medication storage, and continuous patient access to pharmacist services.
  • Maintains active Oregon license. Informs supervisor within 1 business day (and Oregon Board of Pharmacy within 10 days) of any arrests, convictions, suspected or known violations of law, or any other conduct that might affect or has affected license status. Reports to Oregon Board of Pharmacy within 15 days any changes to name, residence address, or mailing address, email, phone, or employment.
  • Actively participates and provides support as needed to leadership and quality program staff to ensure activities related to the company’s quality management program and quality improvement activities maintain priority focus and are effectively executed. This may include but is not limited to activities that promote objective and systematic measurement, monitoring, and evaluation of services and defined Quality Improvement Projects (QIPs) that may result from such efforts.
  • Complies with the company’s Human Resources policies, Employee Handbook, Code of Conduct, and all department policies and procedures, including protecting confidential company, employee, and customer information; attending work punctually and regularly; and adhering to good safety practices in all activities.
