Parent Liaison

The Wintergreen Interdistrict Magnet School Community is seeking a transformative, dynamic, and highly motivated Part-Time Parent Liaison to join our award-winning team of educators. Wintergreen has been recognized as a School of Excellence by Magnet Schools of America, and we are committed to fostering a school climate that aligns with our core values and mission. This position is essential in engaging and empowering our school community and strengthening the relationship between parents, educators, and students. The Parent Liaison will play a pivotal role in ensuring that every student leaves Wintergreen prepared with the inspiration to create, collaborate, communicate, and discover their passion through innovation and the ARTS.

This is a grant funded position 15-20 hours per week throughout the calendar year.

Key Responsibilities:

• Parent and Community Engagement: Develop and implement strategies to increase parent participation and engagement in school events, meetings, and programs. This includes developing content for the schools website, social media sites, and newsletter.
• Collaborate with School Leadership: Work closely with the school leadership team to align parent engagement efforts with the schools mission of fostering creativity, collaboration, and innovation through the arts.
• Communicate Effectively: Serve as a primary point of contact for parents, guardians, and the broader community regarding school events, updates, and opportunities for involvement.
• Event Coordination: Organize and support parent workshops, conferences, and events that promote active parental involvement and support student success.
• Cultivate Partnerships: Build and maintain partnerships with local organizations, community groups, and parents to support student learning and school initiatives.
• Surveys and Feedback: Develop and distribute surveys to assess parent needs, concerns, and satisfaction, using feedback to improve programs and services.
• Promote School Values: Ensure that all parent engagement activities reflect the schools commitment to inclusivity, creativity, and passion for the arts.
• Resource Development: Create and distribute resources and materials to parents that support the development of a positive school culture and community.
• Advocacy: Advocate for the interests of students and parents, ensuring that all voices are heard and respected within the school environment.

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in education, communications, or a related field.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build relationships with a diverse group of stakeholders.
• A passion for education, particularly in the arts, and a commitment to fostering student success.
• Experience working in a school or community setting, preferably with parent engagement initiatives.
• Strong organizational and event planning skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively with diverse teams.
• Knowledge of social media and other digital tools for communication.
