Essential Job Functions:
- Perform all essential functions listed in the Information and Referral Specialist (Housing) description.
- Serve as the primary contact for walk-ins, and incoming housing-related phone calls, and assist with completing applications requiring in-person assistance.
- Train and mentor all I & R Housing Specialists and supporting team members on housing-related questions.
- Print and mail housing recommendations based on AOOA's website search function on behalf of callers.
- Assist the ADRN Supervisor in disseminating housing calls and covering for planned and unplanned staff leave.
- Create and maintain a shared tracking spreadsheet for housing calls/walk-ins for data entry and statistical analysis.
- Record all contacts for data entry into AOOA-approved documentation systems.
- Act as a liaison between Housing I & R Specialists and other AOOA departments.
- Handle confidential information in accordance with agency policy and applicable laws and regulations.
- Demonstrate regular and predictable attendance.
- Utilize agency-provided equipment, including dual monitors, to use multiple databases simultaneously.
- Maintain reliable transportation, insurance, a valid driver’s license, and the ability to satisfactorily undergo a Motor Vehicle Record Check annually.
Special Requirements & Conditions:
- This position shall be terminated if funding is not available for the Housing Specialist.
- Requires a driver’s license, criminal background check, and drug screen.
- Must work on-site at the Area Office on Aging each day. Remote work from home is not an option for this position.
- Workdays/hours are determined by the Supervisor/VP/CEO.
- Conduct outreach activities to increase awareness of Area Office on Aging services amongst targeted populations at community events, including health fairs.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of one year of experience in housing, information and referral, gerontology, or a related field.
- Knowledge/experience of the aging network preferred.
- Degree in gerontology, disability studies, social work, nursing, public administration, healthcare administration, or a related field preferred.
- Excellent customer service skills.
Weekly Schedule: AOoA is open Monday – Friday from 8:00 am – 5:30 pm.
