Under the Base Telecommunications System (BTS) contract at Los Angeles Air Force Base (LAAFB), the Telecommunications Mechanic is responsible for Qualified candidates should have relevant experience in telecommunications systems (e.g., installation, troubleshooting, maintenance, or repair of fiber optic, copper, and telephony systems). Familiarity with industry standards (e.g., TIA/EIA, BICSI), OEM manuals, and safety procedures related to confined spaces, cable splicing, and power tools is desirable. An understanding of government contracting environments, including DoD/AF directives and the ability to update and maintain accurate work center records, is beneficial. A high school diploma (or equivalent) is required; additional technical training or certifications (e.g., fiber splicing, BICSI Technician) are a plus. Candidates must possess strong communication skills, be able to work indoors and outdoors under varying conditions, and obtain and maintain all required base access privileges and security clearances as stipulated by the contract.
