Job Description
The Development Staff Accountant is responsible for recording general ledger activity, preparing monthly reconciliations, performing accounts payable activities, and reviewing financial statements in accordance with the Company’s accounting policies and procedures. This position will be responsible for providing accounting support to the Development and Construction departments. The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic, detail-oriented, comfortable with a team-oriented, high-volume environment, able to multi-task, and able to think critically to ensure that key processes are effectively, accurately and efficiently completed to support our business and team.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES
- Manage accounts payable, including draw / vendor wire payments, to ensure appropriate and timely payment of invoices and general adherence to accounting and budgetary guidelines.
- Work closely with development management teams to ensure accurate coding and descriptions on invoices.
- Prepare monthly balance sheet reconciliations for various real estate funds ensuring that the results are accurate and provided within the deadlines provided.
- Assist in development project setup and closeout.
- Perform general accounting functions including monthly journal entries, account reconciliations, period closes, and reports in accordance with the company’s accounting policies and procedures.
- Assist in the preparation of purchase accounting files for development acquisitions.
- Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, annual and other ad hoc reporting documents.
- Provide supporting documents for internal and external audit requests.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business, or Finance required or equivalent experience.
- Ability, aptitude, and desire to expand knowledge and understanding of our business.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail with the ability to prioritize and ensure work is accurately completed within deadlines.
- Strong customer service skills and the ability to establish sound interpersonal relationships with team members, customers, and vendors.
- Assertive, self-motivated, team-oriented individual.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel and Word.
- An ability to apply discretion and judgement in the application of accounting standards.

The anticipated base salary range for this position is listed below. Total compensation may also include a discretionary performance-based bonus. Note, the range takes into account a broad spectrum of qualifications, including, but not limited to, years of relevant work experience, education, and other relevant qualifications specific to the role.
$75,000 - $85,000
