Aretum, a leading government contracting company specializing in technology-enabled mission support services, is seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Junior Business & Financial Analyst (Funds Control) to join our team. As a Junior Business & Financial Analyst at ARETUM, you will play a vital role in assisting with financial analysis and budgeting, funds control, and providing support in managing financial resources for our government clients.

Responsibilities- Apply the United States Standard General Ledger (USSGL) to perform, reconcile, analyze and monitor the full scope of financial activities (i.e. reviewing system posting logic models, identifying abnormal general ledgers balances, analyzing budgetary vs proprietary balance relationships, reconciling subsidiary balances to the general ledger in the financial system) in compliance with Federal Accounting Standards Advisory Board (FASAB), the U.S. Treasury, Office of Management and Budget, and other accounting standard-setting organizations
- Develop/advise on new or existing policies or procedures to improve accounting processes
- Independently manage key operational accounting activities (i.e., training less experienced staff, recommending corrective actions, developing/reviewing financial policies and guidelines)
- Performing special projects and ad hoc support budgetary accounting, financial systems, and other fiscal operations support. Includes items such as creating and testing new, relevant reports from the core financial system of records
- Performing the agency's "Monthly Execution Report (MER) by object classification code
- Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or related field
- 5 years of experience in financial analysis or related role
- Knowledge of federal financial management and funds control
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other financial software/tools
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to multitask and prioritize assignments
