JOB SUMMARY
The Technical Communicator Supervisor is responsible for leading a team in the analysis, development, and management of ARGO documentation for customer delivery and implementation projects. This role ensures the creation of high-quality, user-centric documentation that effectively communicates complex technical details to both internal teams and end-users.

EXPECTED WORK AND PERFORMANCE (ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS)
- Develop Documentation Plans: Create documentation plans and schedules for identified projects, ensuring alignment with product release dates and client deliverables.
- Team Management: Supervise and mentor a team of technical communicators, fostering a collaborative environment and ensuring adherence to quality standards.
- Information Gathering: Gather and analyze technical and product information from various sources (e.g., product demonstrations, project tracking systems, interviews) to document new or changing product functionality.
- Project Management: Manage documentation projects effectively to meet deadlines and quality standards, proactively addressing project issues and scope changes.
- Collaboration with SMEs: Work with ARGO subject matter experts (SMEs) and internal groups to develop and maintain documentation that meets established quality metrics.
- Documentation Standards: Ensure compliance with the ARGO Corporate Communications Style Guide and best practices in documentation development and maintenance.
- User Feedback: Solicit feedback to measure documentation effectiveness and conduct user/task analysis to determine documentation requirements.
- Peer Reviews: Perform peer reviews to ensure documentation is accurate, relevant, concise, and user-friendly.
- Continuous Improvement: Support and apply effective documentation practices, including the use and improvement of processes, procedures, templates, and standards.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree in technical communication, journalism, computer science, or a related field preferred. Relevant experience in a software development environment may substitute for educational requirements.
- Work Experience: Minimum of 8 years of experience as a technical communicator, with demonstrated proficiency in leadership and project management.
- Industry Experience: Experience in software development environments is Required.
REQUIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE/KNOWLEDGE
- Leadership: Proven ability to lead and manage a team effectively.
- Writing and Editing: Exceptional communication skills for conveying information to diverse audiences. Provide excellent editing skills through grammar, tone, voice, and usage.
- Technical Communication Standards: Strong understanding of technical communication processes and best practices.
- Information Organization: Ability to arrange and classify information effectively.
- Analytical Skills: Critical evaluation of information from multiple sources and ability to simplify complex concepts.
- Interpersonal Skills: Strong negotiation and conflict resolution skills among project stakeholders.
- Advanced Tools: Experience with Microsoft Word and MadCap Flare (or similar content development tools).
PREFERRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE/KNOWLEDGE
- Tools: Experience with Adobe Acrobat, Microsoft tools (such as PowerPoint, Visio, and Excel), and Jira.
- Computer Knowledge: Familiarity with HTML.
- UX/UI Principles: Understanding of user experience principles for designing user-friendly documentation layouts.
- Domain Knowledge: Experience in banking, financial services, or healthcare is a plus.
ATTENDANCE/WORK LOCATION
The position is based in our Richardson, TX office. Daily physical presence in the office is required for interaction with co-workers, attending meetings, and for collaboration on projects.
