General purpose of the job
This position leads all aspects of safety, production, quality, maintenance, driver management, and daily truck cleanliness & readiness for the assigned plant(s). This role has overall responsibility to ensure financial and operational goals are achieved for the plant while delivering a superior customer experience and promoting a highly engaged & collaborative work environment. Leads business improvement efforts through the rigorous application of the Argos Operating System, effective work standards, lean principles & tools, and promotion of a strong continuous culture. Develops an organization capable of achieving the business objectives on a sustainable basis. Works closely with sales and dispatch to ensure plant operations, drivers, and trucks are adequately available to meet daily customer demand.Individual accountabilities
  • Provide overall leadership to ensure that the budgeted financial (shipments, operating cost,) and operational goals (Safety, Quality, Service, Cost Productivity, Inventory Accuracy) for the plant are met.
  • Proactively identify barriers and challenges that could negatively impact the achievement of those goals and implement effective solutions to minimize impact.
  • Communicate priorities, initiatives, and performance to all team members.
  • Effectively deploy the Argos Operating System and associated tool kit. Utilize the Argos Daily Management system as the basis for running the plants on a daily basis. Ensure standard work and standard operating procedures are well defined and are being followed through daily audits.
  • Work closely with dispatch to ensure plant operations, drivers, and trucks are adequately available to meet daily customer demand. Communicate any problems or issues in a timely manner.
  • Eliminate waste & improve efficiency across the plant operations through strict adherence to established standards, deployment of the Lean tools & processes, driving a continuous improvement culture, and promoting employee engagement at all levels of the plant.
  • Effectively manage plant personnel and Concrete Delivery Professionals (Drivers) including formal & informal performance reviews and coaching or disciplinary action when appropriate. Establish goals, in line with business objectives and develop talent and monitor progress towards those goals. Develop skills of team members and build succession plans for all roles. Build a highly motivated team through reward & recognition, empowerment, engagement, communication, and by proactively addressing employee issues / behavior.
  • Identify, propose, and obtain approval for projects (capital & other) to drive step change improvements in the plants / fleet performance.
  • Ensure a safe work environment for all employees through implementation and maintenance of company directed safety programs, compliance with OSHA and other regulatory requirements, and promotion of a strong preventative safety culture. Ensure compliance to all federal, state, and local environmental regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure proper collection and reporting of data necessary to track performance of the manufacturing operation against plan, identify root causes of issues, and lead problem solving efforts.
  • Provide input into the annual budget, ensure proper reporting of data necessary to track the performance of the operations against budget, and take appropriate actions to ensure plant budgets are met.
  • Effectively plan, and manage material inventory levels including the ordering of material and timely processing of receipts and data entry into the various systems. Balance month end inventory levels in a timely manner to enable closing of the financial records.
  • Performs other similar and related duties as required.
  • Maintain plant cleanliness and organization levels (5S) to expected levels.
  • Actively promote, support, and encourage community involvement and a positive corporate image.Education
OpenTechnical knowledge and certifications
Minimum 3 years experience in a Concrete Ready Mix plant is required including direct experience performing batching operations.Area of experience
  • 3-6 Years.
  • Industrial manufacturing, building materials, construction / processing environment.Languages
English C2: Advanced - Native

Annual Salary Range from $67,299.90 to $93,472.08
