Carrollwood Farms encompasses over 5,000 acres in Stokes and Rockingham Counties, North Carolina, and Patrick County, Virginia. Our mission is to build a family farm for generations to come, showcase and preserve the best of the region, and use best practices in all that we do.
The farm has various divisions, including sitework and grading, building, farming, gardening, grounds, and, soon, hospitality.
Responsibilities Assist the building team in the construction and repair of the farm’s built physical structures including but not limited to homes, sheds, barns, garages, fencing, pools, greenhouses, chicken coops, and more. This includes concrete structures including pads and driveways. Assist the building team in all manner of building projects including cleaning, painting, carpentry, basic plumbing (indoor and outdoor), basic electrical work (such as installing fixtures), introductory concrete jobs (e.g., pouring pads and cleaning concrete). When working on new construction assist the building team when appropriate install landscape features with work to include but not limited to dressing down finished areas, spreading seed, laying down straw, etc. When necessary, drive company vehicles (min. age: 18), sometimes to pick up supplies and/or perform errands.
Qualifications The ability to perform tasks preparatory and conclusive to building projects, tasks such as assisting in the staging of building projects (layout of building supplies) and cleaning up job sites (sweeping, empty trash cans), The ability to participate in construction tasks include (when age appropriate) sawing, cutting, nailing, measuring, painting, performing plumbing tasks included PVC, PEX, and black pipe. The ability to run a skid steer.
Physical Requirements Must be able to bend, lift, kneel, and twist. Must be able to lift up to 70 pounds occasionally. Must be able to walk, sit, and stand for long periods of time. Occasionally work during the rain. Must be able to work outside in various climates. Must be willing to work outside, sometimes near water. Must be able to use hand tools (min. age: 18).
