ABOUT CARROLLWOOD FARMS
Carrollwood Farms encompasses over 5,000 acres in Stokes and Rockingham Counties, North Carolina, and Patrick County, Virginia. Our mission is to build a family farm for generations to come, showcase and preserve the best of the region, and use best practices in all that we do.
The farm has various divisions, including sitework and grading, building, farming, gardening, grounds, and, soon, hospitality.
Job Title FENCE BUILDER (40 hrs / wk)
Reports To DIRECTOR OF CONSTRUCTION
Responsibilities :
- Install various fence types at Carrollwood Farms, including four-rail board (sometimes with masonry columns), high-tensile (for livestock and certified organic production), and related bracing / hardware.
- Collaborate with masons on fence-to-column connections.
- Assist with material sourcing, receiving, storage, and pre-installation staining.
- Prepare fence sites, ensuring aesthetically pleasing layouts that follow the terrain.
- Dig post holes (by machine or hand), install posts (with concrete if needed), and install rails / wires, ensuring high-quality, seamless joints and straight lines.
- Install bracing (line, corner, H, and ranch), copper protective wraps, and post caps.
- Maintain clean job sites.
- Perform fence repair and gate installation.
- Apply a second coat of stain to four-rail wood fences.
- Communicate effectively with the manager and team.
- Lead and supervise assistants when needed.
- Work independently when required.
- Assist the building team with construction and repair of farm structures (homes, sheds, barns, garages, pools, greenhouses, chicken coops, etc.), including concrete work.
- Assist the building team with all building projects (cleaning, painting, carpentry, basic plumbing / electrical, concrete work).
- Assist with landscape feature installation (dressing areas, seeding, straw spreading).
- Drive company vehicles (18 ).
