Vocational Supervisor

One F-Time Position. 40 hours per week.

Monday through Friday, 8:00am to 4:00pm. Some evenings and weekends.

Hiring Range: $22.52 - $24.55 / hr., depending upon education and experience.

This position will remain open until filled.

Minimum Requirements

Required:

  • High School graduation or equivalent, minimum age 18.
  • Two years’ experience working with adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Preferred:

  • BBA in a related field.
  • Two or more years’ experience working with I/DD in a supervisory role.
  • Experience with evidence based individual behavioral supports and services.

Position Summary

This position is responsible for developing paid work opportunities for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in the community. This position will also develop volunteer sites for the purpose of teaching work skills needed for paid employment.

Ariel Clinical Services Mission

To provide safe, nurturing, and supportive environments for children, families, and adults so that they may have the opportunities to develop their strengths, maximize their potentials and fully participate in society.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

1. Provide direct supervision of employees within the department supervised by interviewing, selecting, and training new employees; setting employee work hours and scheduling; handling employee complaints and grievances; conducting performance appraisals; preparing and/or recommending disciplinary action or corrective action plans and rewards for employees; preparing and/or making recommendations for termination or advancement of employees.

2. Oversee and ensure implementation of Individual Support Plans (ISP) and other assessments, providing training as needed.

3. Monitor each established job or volunteer site to assure the environment is safe for the individuals served. Continually develop paid and volunteer work opportunities.

4. Assure adequate funding is in place for services and submit Prior Authorization of Resources (PAR) units to Community Center Board (CCB) case manager annually. Monitor and manage PAR units and work closely with Adult Services Billing Specialist to make adjustments throughout the year

5. As required or directed, accept and process referrals to the program, and work effectively with service agencies.

6. Provide timely and accurate reporting for billing.

7. Provide excellent customer service and respond to customer complaints in a timely manner. Ensure customer satisfaction for work performed.

8. Communicate regularly and effectively with parents, guardians and all other individuals involved with the person receiving services.

9. Develop, implement, and maintain Agency wide Standard Operating Procedures for the day program. Participate in ongoing program evaluation to ensure program effectiveness.

10. Positively represent Ariel Day program during Interdisciplinary Team meetings, service plan meetings and other meetings in a professional manner.

11. Demonstrate regular and reliable attendance on an on-going basis.

12. Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements:

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

1. Knowledge of applicable rules and regulations.

2. Capable of managing challenging behaviors through established training and using least restrictive measures.

3. Ability to build rapport with employees, individuals in service, providers, referral sources, and other agencies, and to remain calm under pressure.

4. Ability to effectively communicate verbally, electronically and in written format in both individual and group settings.

5. Ability to be flexible, and able to change direction rapidly, with a positive attitude

6. Ability to work independently, prioritize workload, complete a wide variety of tasks in a timely and accurate fashion and direct others, as needed.

7. Moderately skilled with computers and technology.

8. Ability to work outside of traditional office hours including nights, weekends, and holidays as necessary.

9. Strong knowledge of the type of services Ariel Clinical Services provides.

10. Skilled in use of sound judgment to arrive at a positive outcome within the scope and boundaries of the department.

11. Knowledge of community resources (social, public agency, and information) in order to assist clients in accessing these resources.

12. Ability to provide reliable, insured transportation for self and others through the community served.

13. Skilled in maintaining a high level of confidentiality concerning the client, their family, background, treatment.

Education and Experience

Required:

  • High School graduation or equivalent, minimum age 18.
  • Two years’ experience working with adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Preferred:

  • BBA in a related field.
  • Two or more years’ experience working with I/DD in a supervisory role.
  • Experience with evidence based individual behavioral supports and services.

Certifications/Licenses

Required:

1. Valid Colorado Driver’s License with an acceptable driving record.

2. CPR, First Aid – before contact with clients.

3. CPI – within 60 days of hire, may not be left unsupervised with clients until this training is completed.

4. Informed Supervision - Sex Offender training - within 60 days of hire, may not be left unsupervised

with clients until this training is completed.

5. BSIT

6. Person-Centered training

7. Client-specific training

8. Van Drivers training

9. QMAP – (Medical Administration Certification) within 60 days of hire, may not provide medication to clients without this certification.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Supervises all work services Direct Support Professionals and Lead positions.

Physical Demands

1. This position requires that the incumbent be capable of bending, sitting, stretching, and/or reaching regularly for periods up to two hours without a break.

2. This position requires that the incumbent have adequate hand and finger dexterity to properly perform the functions of the position.

3. This position requires lifting regularly up to 25 pounds, pulling, or pushing persons in wheelchairs, transferring persons weighing more than 50 pounds to and from wheelchairs must be performed with another staff member.

4. At times, physical interventions may be required.

5. This position requires the ability to hear, see, smell, and distinguish temperature, at a level which is adequate to ensure client and staff health and safety. Adaptive devices are acceptable.

6. This position will require daily driving of up to one hour per day and occasionally up to eight hours per day.

Work Environment

1. This position can and will be exposed to all environments from quiet to noisy, climate controlled to extreme outdoor heat and cold.

2. Exposure to blood borne pathogens and infectious disease is possible, but limited.

3. Exposure to hazardous chemicals is possible, but limited.
