POSITION SUMMARY :

The Education Services Division of the Arizona Supreme Court is seeking an experienced manager and educator to lead the Probation Education Unit. This senior level position conceives, designs, facilitates and implements educational programs that strengthen the use of effective probation practices, increase officer safety in the field, and that meet strategic goals of the statewide probation system and the Arizona Judicial Branch. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working and communicating with a diverse mix of probation staff and leaders who represent a range of county departments - and with similarly diverse program faculty including judges, academics and probation professionals. Development of educational programs often involves many justice stakeholders and adherence to effective evidence-based practices, policies, statutes and codes. The position directly supervises seven individuals (professional and administrative staff) and is responsible for a one-million-dollar annual program budget.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS :

The position requires strong skills in clear, direct and consistent communications with diverse and numerous stakeholders using a team-oriented and collaborative approach. The position also requires a bachelor's degree in Education, Criminal Justice, Social Sciences or related field and seven years related experience in probation courts or a related field, including three years supervisory experience. Knowledge of adult education principles, skills and ability regarding the development and delivery of adult education programs is required. This position also requires demonstrated performance history in planning, organizing, managing and coordinating multiple projects and personnel simultaneously to produce timely results. This position must also solve problems and act as the Supreme Court's expert on assigned issues.

The preferred candidate will have an advanced degree in Education, Criminal Justice or a related field with knowledge of officer safety (tactical self-defense and use of defensive tools including firearms), the Arizona probation system, faculty skills development and remote delivery including eLearning and blended learning environments. The ideal candidate will also have a spirit of service who actively looks for ways to help others.

This position requires the ability to travel to courts and training sites within Arizona.
