The Theatre Department invites applications for a full-time Professor of Theatre, dedicated to enhancing student learning and retention. In this role, you will play a crucial part in shaping our program by directing productions, mentoring students, and contributing to our community partnerships. Typical Duties
- Teach 15 equated load hours/semester, develop and grade assignments to evaluate student learning outcomes (SLOs), maintain office hours, and update course content and syllabi annually. Collaborate with faculty to assess teaching methodologies, participate in program reviews, and improve instructional materials based on assessments.
- Direct and co-produce a main stage production per semester, supervise student productions, monitor and maintain theatre spaces, and ensure safety regulations are met. Participate in student recruitment, retention, advisement, and college committees while promoting the theatre program's reputation.
- Participate in professional development activities, serve on advisory committees, and contribute to local and state theatre initiatives. Develop college/community theatre partnerships and support Visual and Performing Arts events.
- Maintain 10 hours of positive student interactions per week, including advising, mentoring, and engaging with students in a formal learning environment. Attend graduation ceremonies and actively support the recruitment and retention of students.

- Master’s degree in theatre, performance studies
- Two years of teaching experience at a community college (including performance, theatre history, technical theatre). Would also consider a minimum of two years’ experience as a graduate teaching assistant in college theatre classes (including performance, theatre history, technical theatre)
- Two years working in stage crafts and technical areas of production at the professional and/or college level
- Experience in technical direction, production management, and/or production lead
- Experience in and a working knowledge in two or more of the following areas: lighting technology; construction of costumes, wigs and make-up; scenic construction; properties
- Recent experience as a practicing Theatrical artist with proficiency in contemporary stage directing, acting, pedagogical practices, and dramaturgy is a plus
