The Ark-Tex Council of Governments (ATCOG) is now accepting applications for FSS Coordinator. Announcement #3126 This is a full-time position located in the Texarkana, Texas, office.
The position assists clients in becoming self-sufficient by developing strategies for reaching economic independence, and administers / oversees Housing and Urban Development Family Self-Sufficient grants.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Performs individual and family needs assessments to set goals and determine potential obstacles in achieving self-sufficiency.
- Develops custom-tailored FSS Action Plans with action items and timetables to help families achieve self-sufficiency.
- Plans and coordinates activities for FSS program participants such as training programs, GED Classes, and housing counseling.
- Refers FSS participants to appropriate social services agencies as necessary.
- Acts as liaison between FSS program participants and various community resources.
- Creates and maintains case files on all FSS program participants.
- Develops and submits required FSS program reports.
- Assists in identifying and preparing grants, funding applications, and progress reports.
- Participates as an ATCOG representative on the Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) program.
- Cross-train and provide HCV duties for FSS families only.
- Other duties as assigned.
NON-ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
1. Performs similar or slightly more responsible duties as assigned .
2. Travels as required.
POSITION SPECIFICATIONS
EDUCATION / TRAINING Two (2) years of college or accredited trade school and two (2) years experience as a FSS Coordinator, Resident Services Coordinator, Social Worker, HCV Specialist, or similar position;
OR High School Diploma or equivalent plus four (4) years experience; OR any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Must obtain and maintain all required certifications.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITY : Knowledge of public housing agency rules; Housing Choice Voucher program and regulations preferred.
Knowledge of office practices and procedures required.
Skills Required : demonstrated proficiency using PC with Microsoft Office applications; interviewing and counseling skills;
written and oral communication with correct grammar / punctuation.
Abilities Required : follow directions; work in a fast-paced environment; maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, co-workers, and the general public;
detail oriented; maintain a high level of confidentiality; work well with a team or independently. Ability to see, hear, reach, stoop, bend, lift and carry up to 30 pounds required.
Must perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
Additional Requirement : Must possess a valid vehicle operator's license subject to an approved motor vehicle report and reliable transportation with valid proof of insurance for travel within the ATCOG region.
