What are the responsibilities and job description for the Veterinary Assistant / Technician position at Ark Valley Animal Hospital?
You must be willing to work hard, multi-task, pay attention to details, prioritize duties, follow directions, be a team player, and stay calm in stressful situations. Experience with handling dogs and cats is preferred and training will be provided. You will be working closely with the veterinarian by assisting with appointments, surgeries, and caring for hospitalized animals.

Some of the duties/responsibilities include:
Interacting with clients (pet owners) in a positive, compassionate, and professional manner
Help restrain animals so certain procedures can be completed
Collecting urine, stool, and blood samples
Conducting / assisting with lab tests
Assist doctor with surgical procedures
Record information about animals on treatment charts and into folders
Clean / sanitize exam rooms, lab area, isolation room, surgery room, etc.
Be able to communicate with pet owners about pre-surgery tests, vaccines, parasite control, medications, and patient discharge
Assist kennel staff
Carry out tasks related to clinic when required
This is a full-time position with various hours during the week; weekends and holidays are required. Must be flexible with schedule, sometimes working hours are extended due to accommodating our clients / patients. Must have a high school diploma or equivalent. Dress: scrubs and closed toe shoes. Business Hours: Monday – Friday 8:00am – 6:00pm and most Saturdays 8:30am – 11:30am
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $13.00 - $16.00 per hour
Expected hours: 30 – 50 per week
