What are the responsibilities and job description for the Laboratory Technician in Training position at Arkana Laboratories?
About the position: Train in preparing histologic slides from tissue sections for microscopic examination and diagnosis by pathologists. Work is performed in accordance with standard laboratory practice under limited supervision.
What you'll do:
Clinical duties include the responsibility of becoming proficient in day-to-day operations of Lab Services; specifically:
- Assessing tissue adequacy for testing
- Performing quality control checks on materials produced
- Completing equipment maintenance and logs
- Developing problem-solving skills
- Determining causes of operating errors and deciding corrective course of action
- Controlling operations of equipment and systems
- Monitoring and assessing performance of self to make improvements or take corrective action
- Assisting in Lab for other duties as assigned
- Practicing safe work procedures while performing job duties
- Periodically review of work product for compliance with standard operating procedures and applicable workload limits
Administrative Duties
- Assisting in Accessioning
- Maintenance of Lab logs and tracking sheets
Requirements
- All SOPs must be followed
- Any discrepancies, errors and/or deviation from the SOPs or Policies must be reported to the Lab Director, Lab Manager, Admin Lead and/or Section Lead
- Laboratory Standards for Clinical testing must be maintained
You should have:
Education: Bachelor’s or Associates degree from a four or two year-college or university. Certification eligible
Experience: Preferably Histology-specific and Laboratory Technical skills and 2 years of lab experience but not required
Computer Skills: Proficient in MS Word
Schedule: Monday-Friday 6:30am-3:30pm or Tuesday-Friday 6:30am-3:30pm and Saturday 8am-4:30pm
Start Date for this position would be June 17th, 2025.
