ASSOCIATE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
QUALIFICATIONS :
Bachelor’s degree in related field required; Master’s degree in related field preferred.
Minimum of five (5) years of demonstrated experience in education-based athletic setting required; minimum of five (5) years of experience as principal or superintendent preferred.
Strong leadership, administrative skills, presentation skills, public speaking and experience in the operations of education-based athletics and activities.
Human relations and communication skills required to interact effectively with coaches, member schools and constituencies. Demonstration of outstanding oral and written communication skills.
Computer literacy and hands-on computer skills. Demonstration of technology skills.
RESPONSIBILITIES :
Administers one or more sports, as determine by the Executive Director. This includes general oversight, rules meetings, assisting with officials’ clinics and assignments and conducting post season championships. (Sports may include tennis, basketball and soccer.)
Chairs sport advisory committees for sports administered.
Maintain a comprehensive working knowledge of the AAA handbook specific to eligibility and sports administered.
Works with other directors on eligibility matters.
Handles incoming and outgoing correspondence, emails and telephone calls related to responsibilities in a timely manner.
Serves as administrator or assists in administration of AAA state tournaments / meets including presence at state tournaments / meet sites.
Oversee the AHSCA and be the liaison for the AHSCA Executive Committee.
Oversee the AHSCA Coaches Clinic with the AHSCA Executive Committee.
Oversee sports medicine and be the liaison for the Sports Medicine Advisory Committee. Ensure that all sports medicine requirements are up to date with state law and best recommended practices and procedures.
Work closely with the Board of Directors, administrators, athletic directors, coaches and sports committees in refining current sports / activities and developing new activities aimed at increasing student population.
Assist with managing public relations, eligibility rules interpretations, attend superintendent and principal meetings and legislative relations.
Performs other duties as assigned by the Executive Director.
