Full-time position with required travel
Compensation: $37,000 - $41,000 a year
Job summary: The Employment Specialist offers a range of services including Supported Employment (SE), Employment First (E1st), Trial-to-Work, Job Coaching, and Job Placement, while also aiding Transition programs through both direct and indirect support. This encompasses vocational assessments, job development, employment preparation and training, soft skill development assistance, referrals to community supports, and helping individuals secure and maintain employment that aligns with their vocational and personal aspirations.

What You’ll do:
- Evaluate vocational abilities using specialized vocational assessment tools.
- Assist people receiving support in exploring vocational interests, abilities, strengths and weaknesses.
- Meet one-on-one with persons receiving support on a weekly basis to assist with the vocational process.
- Serve as a job coach when necessary, assisting individuals in learning and performing their assigned job duties on site.
- Assist individuals in navigating their vocational climate which includes but not limited to socializing with peers, customers, and supervisors; communicating current issues; arranging job accommodations and writing accommodation letters; enhancing work productivity and speed.
- Complete case notes and other documentation on the day of services or by the supervisor’s deadline.
- Collect paperwork and assessments promptly and efficiently, including but not limited to: ARS Monthly Progress Reports and On-The-Job Assessments (during the first week and the last estimated week of job coaching).
- Conduct follow-up services for persons nearing the completion of vocational Services.
- Return phone calls, texts, emails in a timely manner.
- Analyze needs and promptly implement interventions if the individual receiving services is resistant or facing resistance.
- Build rapport with individuals receiving services.
- Network within the communities where the individuals reside.
- Assist with classroom instruction for high school transition students.
- Provide on-the-job training for both students and adults when necessary.
- Help individuals develop soft skills through one-on one or classroom instruction.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
* Travel throughout the community and statewide is required.
What You’ll need:
- 1 year of education or experience working with individuals with developmental and intellectual disabilities.
- Knowledge of employment processes such as resume writing, interview preparation, job searching, among others.
- Ability to promote autonomy, diversity, and respect in a varied work environment.
- Be a creative problem solver, a good team member with effective communication skills, and possess a self-driven, patient personality.
