The Department of Parks & Recreation (DPR) is seeking a Full-Time, Permanent, Lifeguard for the Long Bridge Aquatics & Fitness Center to work shifts as a primary guard in the facility and monitor two bodies of water, including a 50-meter pool and a leisure pool with a water slide and other play features. Lifeguards will work on deck or in lifeguard chairs and serve as the primary protection against water related injuries. This position will be responsible for ensuring the safety of all aquatic participants.

This position will be responsible for ensuring the safety of all aquatic participants.
Responsibilities
Specific duties include:
- Observing and enforcing pool rules and water safety policies among lifeguards and aquatic participants while maintaining safe water quality (pool chemical checks) and assuring safety among the pool deck;
- Serving as an on-deck lifeguard to cover shifts or working a regularly scheduled on-deck shift;
- Providing emergency care and treatment;
- Completing incident/accident reports, shift reports, water emergency reports, and water chemistry logs;
- Ensuring compliance with County policies and procedures and Health and safety standards; and
- Performing other job-related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
- American Red Cross Lifeguard certification or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire; and
- CPR, First Aid/AED certifications or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire.
- Knowledge of lifeguarding and best practices related to pool safety; Working as a lifeguard in a recreational or competitive pool setting with many programs;
- Lifeguarding for the Professional Rescuer;
- American Red Cross Water Attraction Credential for Lifeguards; and/or
- Certified Pool Operator (CPO).
Certification Requirements: Staff will be required to obtain within 30 days of employment and maintain the following certifications:
- CPR/AED; and
- American Red Cross Lifeguard.
Additional Information
Work Hours: This is a 40-hours a week position.
- Schedule varies, anytime from Monday - Friday between operation hours of 5:00am – 10:00pm, Saturdays between operation hours of 6:00am – 9:00pm, and/or Sundays between operation hours of 8:00am – 8:00pm.
- Schedule may vary based on the facilities schedule of events.
- Required to work nights and weekends on occasion and during nontraditional business hours.
