What are the responsibilities and job description for the Adult Basketball League Scorekeeper position at Arlington Heights Park District?
We are currently seeking a detail-oriented and reliable Basketball Scorekeeper to join our team for the upcoming basketball season. As a Basketball Scorekeeper, you will be responsible for accurately recording the events of basketball games, including points scored, and other statistical data.
JOB SPECIFIC INFORMATION
- Submits completed scorekeeping paperwork to the Athletics Supervisor, as required
- Operates an electronic scoreboard and maintains accurate scores during games
- Notifies the sports official(s) of any scorekeeping discrepancies
- Performs the job safely and in compliance with District policies, procedures, work and safety rules, and the employee handbook
- Report any problems with coaches, participants, or spectators to the Athletics Supervisor
Available Shift is on Thursday from 6:00pm-11:00pm.
Locations are: Camelot, Pioneer, Forrest View, Poe
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
- High school student, high school graduate, or G.E.D.
- Minimum age of 14 is required
- Valid Work Permit is required if under the age of 16
- One to two years of work experience keeping score for sporting events
- Or, any equivalent combination of education, experience, and training
SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION AND ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS
- Standing or sitting for sustained periods while completing work
- Repetitive hand/arm movements such as when keeping score or running a scoreboard
- Some bending, twisting, and walking while performing job duties
- Some bending, kneeling and reaching for items off the floor and on high shelves
- Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. in recreational equipment, storage boxes, and other supplies.
