ROLE AND PURPOSE :
To embrace all aspects of communications, including media relations, community relations, crisis communications and internal communications on behalf of Arlington ISD, its 8,600 employees, and 53,000 students.
Will collaborate with the Chief Communications Officer to establish communications strategies. Will work in close coordination with department leaders and marketing and communications staff to plan and execute communications initiatives that promote the Arlington ISD brand. Will play a lead role in communicating district vision, accomplishments and programs through integrated communications to internal and external audiences.

Bachelor's degree in communications, public relations, journalism, advertising or related fieldExperience :
Minimum of seven (7) years of experience in communications or a related fieldSpecial Skills / Knowledge :

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES :
I. PUBLIC RELATIONIn collaboration with the Chief Communications Officer, develop and implement a strategic communications plan for the district to include a district-wide message book, glossary of terms, FAQ's and yearly content calendar.Identify and implement new and creative communications approaches to enhance employee communications and engagement.Oversee day-to-day operations of communications programs.Work closely with the Chief Communications Officer and leadership team to develop communications campaigns and messages and distribute them via multiple channels to internal and external audiences.Oversee production of publications for Arlington Today Magazine, My Arlington ISD newsletter and others.Position Arlington ISD as an industry leader in local, regional and national trade publications.Build and foster collaborative relationships with other departments within the district to stay informed of new initiatives and promote them accordingly.Lead communications efforts for district-wide special events including Teacher of the Year banquets, Retirement and Years of Service Awards, Wall of Fame, student awards banquets, Explore Arlington ISD, College and Career Night, Teacher / Student of the Month, State of the District, What's Your Big Idea, Back to School Kickoff and others.Oversee the development of speeches, scripts, newsletters, brochures, feature stories, blog posts, social media posts, reports and more.Support the district's social media strategy and the implementation of Social Studio.Serve as a district representative on external committees and projects.Lead weekly content creation meetings.II. MEDIA RELATIONS :
Oversee development of and craft content for news releases.Oversee development of and craft key messages and talking points for on-air spokespersons.Proactively pitch stories on Arlington ISD staff, projects, successes, recognitions and more to broadcast media and digital outlets.Respond to media requests.Serve on the department's Crisis Communications team and support the Chief Communications Officer during times of crisis.Provide monthly media reports to the Executive Director.III. INTERNAL COMMUNICATIONS
Oversee development of and craft content for district-wide initiatives such as the District Updates, Mission Joy Toy Drive, Arlington ISD night at Globe Life, Convocation and others.Support and / or assign support to multiple departments with their internal communications needs including Human Resources, Web Services, Technology, Academic Services and others.IV. MISCELLANEOUS
Video content creation, supervision of staff and interns, work beyond regular schedule and weekend work required.Supervisory responsibilities.Performs other duties as assigned.V. MENTAL DEMANDS / PHYSICAL DEMANDS / ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS :
