Job Description
POSITION: High School Dean

Qualifications
- Licensed as a Principal/Assistant Principal
- Masters Degree required.
- Three years experience in a school leadership role.
- Experience as a secondary teacher, school counselor, or related service provider
- Demonstrated ability and commitment to work with students who have diverse needs and their families.
- Excellent written and oral communications skills.
- Familiarity with Powerschool or other Student Information Systems and willingness , or willingness to learn other about, administrative software.educational software and web based applications.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with staff, parents, students, and community members.
- Other qualifications acceptable to the Superintendent.

Daily Operations
- Supervision of student affairs in the assigned Office. This includes responsibility for monitoring student attendance, punctuality, and behavior on a day-to-day basis, including participating in Team Meetings and enlisting the aid of school counseling and support personnel as needed.
- The Dean will maintain open and productive lines of communication with parents, teachers, and students. The Dean will use effective problem solving strategies to meet student needs.
- Effective mentoring and supervision of all professional and non-professional assigned staff. The Dean will assist staff members by intervening and mediating in situations requiring administrative intervention and will ensure that professional responsibilities are being met by all staff.
- Coordinate efforts of various departments to support students, especially at-risk students.
- Support the administrative data processing services for Arlington High School. Provide for the efficient and timely generation of various reports and documents and the maintenance of data.
- Supervision of High School General Education Intervention Programs
- Create channels of communication between general education and special education.
- Participate with the Principal, Assistant Principal and the Deans in developing and/or modifying school policy and procedures as the needs arise.
- Contribute to discussions with the Principal, Assistant Principal and Deans regarding the general direction of the School.
- Share in responsibility for the general supervision of the school facility, its student body, its staff, and its programs.
- Provide direct supervision at lunch, various after school and evening athletic, social, extracurricular, and recognition events.
- Meet, as needed, with various town, community agencies, or regional groups.
- Coordinate activities and decision-making with the Principal, Assistant Principal and other Deans.
- Participate in school-wide initiatives as needed.
- Maintain positive relationships with staff, families and students in the School.
- Perform all other reasonable related duties as assigned by the Principal.
