JOB DESCRIPTION: Professional Day and Orientation: July 2, 2025 Program Dates: July 7, 2025-August 2, 2025 Model: IN-PERSON Location :Washington-Liberty HS Wakefield High School teacher to teach a 5-day course designed for students planning to take an advanced course (AP) class for the first time fall of 2025. This course focuses on developing students’ skills needed to be successful in college level courses. Students will develop their reading comprehension, analytical writing, advocacy skills, time management, organizational skills, etc… This course is a total of 20 instructional hours (4 hours a day for 5 days). RESPONSIBILITIES: Responsibilities Include : Provide instruction for students using the identified curriculum Implement the curriculum with fidelity Provide differentiation of content based upon the needs of individual students Participate in planning and staff development before Summer School Collaborate with Advanced Courses staff on program implementation EXPERIENCE: Experience: Experience with students from diverse backgrounds Experience with personalized learning strategies Experience teaching intensified, AP courses QUALIFICATIONS: Preferred Qualifications : Hold a Virginia Teaching Certificate Experience teaching regular, intensified, AP courses Working knowledge of the Wakefield AP programs Familiar with other AP courses offered at Wakefield Must be available to teach during the entire length of the program Be prepared to teach Executive Functioning Skills such as organization, time management, study skills and strategies to meet deadlines Be prepared to teach best practices in written and oral communication CONTACT INFORMATION: Candidates please contact Stacy Morris at stacy.morris@apsva.us if you are interested in this position and/or have any questions.
