JOB SUMMARY:

The Clinical Supervisor manages the work of the Primary Therapists and all clinical services including assessment, treatment planning, individual and group counseling, and care coordination / discharge planning. This position manages the execution of clinical programs and ensures completion of all applicable documentation, including signing documentation that requires a clinical review (if allowable by licensure). This position ensures that services are provided by a competent team of professionals, in a manner that is compliant with all applicable rules and laws, and agency policy and procedures. This position receives frequent supervision and direction from the Clinical Director.

Directly Supervises: Primary Therapists


DUTIES OF THE POSITION:

The duties of the position include, but are not limited to, the following:

1) Supervision and Time Management:

  • Provides for the proper supervision of the staff, including regular individual and group

supervision, case consultation, and treatment plan updates.

  • Assist in hiring, onboarding, and training of new clinical staff.
  • Intervenes and documents appropriately when an employee demonstrates poor

performance.

  • Completes performance evaluations for Primary Therapists according to agency policy and procedure.
  • Lead by example in demonstrating the values of recovery, hope, and resilience.

2) Training and Development:

  • Maintains a working knowledge of the OhioMHAS regulations and The Joint Commission accreditation standards and works with the Clinical Director to ensure that programs are in a state of readiness for certification, Joint Commission surveys, or additional surveys as needed.
  • Promote ongoing professional development by identifying opportunities for staff education, skill-building, and certification.
  • Ensure that clinical staff maintain active certification and/or licensure, and current knowledge of policies, procedures and relevant resources.

3) Program Implementation and Oversight:

  • Assures that all client treatment activities at all levels of care occur as scheduled.
  • Provides for staff coverage for all programs, including coverage when regular staff is on vacation, attending trainings, or on leave of absence.
  • Provides direct client care as needed, including facilitating group and individual counseling, crisis intervention, and intake assessments, as needed.

4) Collaboration and Communication:

  • Monitors managed care organization authorizations daily to assure that therapists are up to date and thorough in their communication with the Utilization Review department to ensure that admission and continued stay authorizations are obtained in a timely manner.
  • Ensures that client transfers and discharges are managed seamlessly, including communication with referral sources and additional providers.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Clinical Director or other members of the Armada administrative staff, including attending agency meetings.

5) Reporting and Documentation:

  • Assures that program clinical records are up to date and in compliance with all

applicable standards and regulations.

  • Prepare regular reports on the status of clinical programs, including client outcomes,

service utilization and any challenges or successes encountered.


ADDITIONAL DUTIES:

  • Ability to understand, speak, read, write in English.
  • Ability to prepare routine reports and correspondence in English.
  • Effectively communicate/speak before groups of customers or employees.
  • Work all hours required to fulfill job responsibilities (including weekends, evenings,

and holidays as needed).

  • Ability to carry/lift boxes weighing between 10 and 25 pounds.
  • Must be able to ascend and descend stairs regularly as part of daily job duties.
  • Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned by management.
  • Ensure credentials are maintained and up to date.
  • Practice specific competencies for people diagnosed with substance use disorders.

COMPLIANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

Armada Recovery employees are required to comply with all state and federal regulatory and legal requirements. Additionally, all staff members must comply with the Armada Recovery Employee Handbook, any Code of Ethics and all other Armada Recovery policies.


EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor’s Degree required.

Master’s Degree in relevant health / behavioral health discipline preferred.


LICENSURE AND CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

Licensure as a Professional Counselor, Social Worker, or Chemical Dependency Counselor required.

o Independent licensure required.

o Supervisory designation preferred.


PRIOR EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • Advanced knowledge of the basic principles, philosophies, practices, and procedures

involved at Armada Recovery.

  • Advanced knowledge of individual and group behaviors and the effective ways of

working with people to transition to on-going recovery

  • Significant knowledge and experience in running groups, seminars, meetings and/or

specialized therapeutic groups and activities.

  • Understanding Cultural Competence and how to successfully work with others from

various cultures and backgrounds, as evident by demonstrating the ability to work

with diverse groups.

  • Significant knowledge of ASAM and the DSM V- TR
  • Experience as a manager or supervisor in a clinical setting preferred.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong understanding of office administrator responsibilities, systems, and procedures.
  • Attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and effective leadership skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills with ability to prioritize workload.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of PHI
