Job Title: Marketing and Outreach Director
Salary Range: $70,000-$78,000
Status: Full Time Exempt
Reports to: Executive Director
POSITION SUMMARY:
This position embodies the work of the Armed Services YMCA, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening the military community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. Under the direction of the Executive Director, the Marketing and Outreach Director leads and/or supports all aspects of external and internal outreach and exposure for the organization. Duties include working closely with media contractors and branch development departments to support the marketing and communications of programs, development campaigns, events, and volunteer opportunities. This position leads the on-going organizational marketing efforts and works toward achieving strategic and long-term branch marketing goals.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The position can include periodic remote work from anywhere in Hawai`i, with the expectation for in-person meetings to support important engagement events and/or teamwork projects.
- Execute the organization’s marketing and communication plan; including but not limited to annual reports, newsletters, brochures, press releases, website maintenance and e-communications.
- Execute communication plans to ensure members, families, participants and the community-at-large community understand our mission, cause, and case for support, and provide leadership to quarterly and special fundraising appeals.
- Work with key staff to lead and/or support the development of SOPs, specific outcomes, and evaluation frameworks to assess the strengths of marketing and communication strategies and identify areas for improvement.
- Collaborate with various departments and military and civilian organizations to increase community awareness of high-quality programs/events that benefit military members and their families.
- Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with community organizations.
- Leads the organization’s social media accounts, including Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, Pinterest, etc.
- Oversee and execute all digital marketing programs, email marketing software, including managing donors, participant, and volunteer email lists and campaigns and preparing and sending out marketing materials.
- Develops strategies to increase volunteer involvement at all levels of marketing, communications and financial support.
- Serves as photographer or recruits volunteers as necessary to ensure events and programs are documented.
- Fulfill program and special event responsibilities identified by supervisor(s) to include designing event and program flyers, sending event details to families, creating event registration links, and compiling and analyzing event data for reports.
- Provide updates to the organization's website, including content updates on events, programs, photo albums, offers, donor recognition, etc.
- Lead editor and writer of ASYMCA communications, including but not limited to Press releases, Newsletters, Presentations, and Blog stories.
- Leads and/or assists in ASYMCA fundraising efforts/activities and special events.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
INTERACTION:
This position will provide information and outreach to donors, potential donors, program participants, volunteers, community partners, military community, military leadership, our ASYMCA Board and staff, and other members of the community.
EDUCATION/YEARS EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:
- College or university degree with an emphasis in communications, marketing, or related field or a comparable course of study.
- At least two years of experience in either marketing and/or working in a similar or related capacity, ideally with a nonprofit organization.
- Any combination of educational and/or work experience that would be equivalent to the stated minimum education requirements would qualify for consideration for this position.
- Must have experience and knowledge of working with military lifestyles.
- Must have a valid driver’s license and clean driving abstract.
- Experience with public relations and working with media outlets is preferred.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:
- General knowledge of nonprofit organizational practices.
- Organized self-starter who works well independently as well as on a team.
- Must be customer service oriented with excellent verbal, written, interpersonal, organizational, and public speaking skills.
- Accurate and detail-oriented, possess strong organizational and time management skills, and the ability to juggle multiple priorities in a complex and fast-paced environment.
- Possess a professional demeanor with an aptitude for analytical thinking and problem-solving.
- Knowledge of graphic design, production process and social media platforms.
- Strong proficiency in Windows, Excel, Microsoft Word, Publisher, social media, WordPress, Adobe platforms, MailChimp, and other contact communication management programs.
- Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of
- the community.

- Pulls and pushes such objects as file drawers and supplies.
