POSITION SUMMARY:

Under the direction of the Executive Director, the Programs Manager is primarily responsible for coordinating and supervising the Branch’s programs and services, in addition to managing personnel at the Junior Enlisted Family Center (thrift store and food pantry). Programs and services include Food support programs, Children’s Waiting Room, Thanksgiving Food Drive, Operation Holiday Joy activities, Operation Little Learners, Operation Ride Home, Operation Hero, Baby Project, and Back to School Bash. Additionally, the Programs Manager will provide ancillary support to external fundraising, marketing, and other Branch events. The Programs Manager will be the main point of contact for all vendors, internal staff, and external partners with direct oversight of programs and services. The Programs Manager will work closely with the Executive Director, to ensure programs and services operate within budget parameters and accomplish the desired outcomes.

  • Coordinate and monitor the Junior Enlisted Family Center activities with administration, development, scheduling, organizing, and marketing of all programs and activities.
  • Identify, recruit, train and manage Junior Enlisted Family Center staff and volunteers, and Operation Hero teachers (in coordination with the CDC Director). 
  • Identify, recruit, train and manage high impact volunteers in support of programs and services.
  • Manage program activities and expand programs as directed by the Executive Director.
  • Represent the ASYMCA throughout the community. Attend staff meetings, Fort Bliss meetings, events, and other local meetings.  
  • Develop short and long-term plans for programs and activities, monitor progress, assure adherence, and evaluate performance.
  • Assist in the design of performance objectives, implement, and monitor programming to meet desired outcomes.
  • Develop yearly outreach plan according to program needs and capacity.
  • Organize and establish meetings on regular basis with designated individuals to foster positive relationships on Fort Bliss and the El Paso Community.
  • Work closely with the Development Manager in sponsor solicitation, cultivation, and promotion for marketing activities and distribution of program information to Fort Bliss leaders.
  • Assist with the development of public relations, social media, and communications strategies to support program goals and increase community awareness.
  • Assist with grant and/or proposal writing as appropriate to the objectives and funding nature of the program; may support or participate in other fundraising activities.
  • Prepare scheduled and special reports; maintains program/activity records and statistical information.
  • Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

INTERACTION:
This position will interact with donors, potential donors, program participants, volunteers, partners, ASYMCA El Paso Board of Management members and staff, and others from the community.

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide direct and full scope supervisory responsibilities of volunteers, vendors, and staff supporting special events and core programs.

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Ability to manage multiple projects and assignments from a variety of staff and volunteers.
  • Ability to accomplish projects with little supervision.
  • High level of integrity, diplomacy, and initiative.
  • A professional demeanor with an aptitude for analytical thinking and problem solving.
  • Responsible, well organized, and demonstrate initiative.
  • Strong proficiency in Windows, Excel, Microsoft Word, Canva, Social Media, and membership management software platforms.        
  • Must be detail oriented, possess strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Must have excellent customer service skills.
  • Excellent verbal, written, interpersonal, organizational, and public speaking skills.

 

Tools and Equipment Used:

Standard office equipment and machines such as telephone, work computer, and multi-function copy machine.

 

LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS:

Must have reliable transportation and possess and maintain a valid Texas driver’s license, a satisfactory driving record, including proof of personal vehicle insurance coverage and insurability under the Agency’s insurance carrier standards.

 

PHYSICAL, MENTAL & ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to:

 

  • Work in an office setting with occasional travel to other locations in El Paso County.
  • Sit, stand, walk, bend, kneel and uses hands, arms and legs for dexterity, balance and climbing stairs frequently. Must be able to sit for prolonged periods of time.
  • Occasionally lifts, carries and balances objects weighing up to 30 pounds.
  • Pulls and pushes such objects as food boxes, file drawers and supplies.
  • Prioritizes and multi-tasks work and projects requiring good memory, concentration and analytical thinking.
  • Occasionally is required to perform the safe operation office equipment and machines and recognize and abate safety hazards within the workplace.
  • Must be able to hear, see including peripheral vision and distinction of colors, read and communicate verbally and in writing frequently with a wide range of people from divergent socio-economic and cultural backgrounds and origins.

 

The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree; at least 1 year of experience or equal combination of education and experience that is directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
  • Minimum age of 21 years of age or older.
  • Typical requirements within 30 days of hire include: completion of: Working with Program Volunteers; CPR; First Aid; AED; Great Academy Safety Training; DEI Training; Food Handlers card.
  • Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
  • Capable of conducting presentations to small-large audiences.
