Job Summary:
The Director of the Arts & Events Center oversees all management, operations, and programming aspects at the Armory Arts & Events Center (AA&EC). This position ensures effective administration, event execution, financial oversight, and community engagement.
Position Details:
- Type: Part-time, (25 hours a week) with the potential for full time
- Schedule: Includes evenings, weekends, and holidays based on event needs
- Compensation: $25.00 per hour
Key Responsibilities:
1. Operational Management
- Manage daily operations, including voicemail, email, correspondence, and filing.
- Oversee facility needs, monthly operations meetings, and supply inventory.
2. Event Planning & Execution
- Schedule, negotiate, and coordinate various events (e.g., weddings, performances, rentals).
- Develop rental agreements and vendor contracts.
- Coordinate event set-ups and client interactions.
- Manage key distribution for renters.
3. Financial Oversight
- Assist the Board Treasurer with various accounting duties such as bill payments, deposits, and financial reporting.
4. Marketing & Audience Development
- Collaborate with the Marketing/Fundraising Committee.
- Develop and execute marketing strategies to promote events and build audiences.
- Oversee promotional materials and maintain a social media presence.
5. Board Communication
- Attend and prepare for board meetings, including agendas, reports, and minutes.
- Communicate operational updates, customer feedback, and solutions to the Board.
6. Art Gallery Management
- Collaborate with the Art Selection Committee to coordinate gallery exhibitions.
- Maintain relationships with artists, manage consignment agreements, and oversee sales.
- Plan featured artist events, including receptions and logistics.
- Maintain a detailed inventory of gallery pieces.
Qualifications:
Education & Experience
- A bachelor’s degree or work experience preferred.
Skills & Attributes
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and QuickBooks.
- Experience in budgeting, marketing, and audience development.
- Knowledge of event production (lighting, sound, staging) or willingness to learn.
- Ability to handle high-pressure situations with a detail-oriented approach.
- Passion for the arts and community engagement.
