About the Job
This position is located in the FMS Washington, Georgia, and requires membership in the Georgia Army National Guard.
Responsibilities
- Perform limited diagnosis, routine repairs, and maintenance on heavy-duty mobile equipment, combat, tactical, and automotive vehicles.
- Assist higher graded mechanics in the repair and/or overhaul of major systems, including internal combustion engines, turbine engines, automatic and non-automatic transmissions, heavy-duty drive line systems, hydraulic utility systems, and controls.
- Make routine repairs that can be accomplished by removing, adjusting, or replacing defective or worn parts and components.
Requirements
- Military Grades: E1-E5.
- Compatible Military Assignments: ECMF: 12, 13, 14, 19, 25, 88, 91, 92, and 94.
Physical Effort and Working Conditions
- Work is performed in tiring or uncomfortable positions for long periods, with frequent standing, bending, reaching, stretching, climbing, and crouching.
- Frequently lifts and carries items weighing up to 40 pounds.
- Exposed to bad weather, dust, heat, fumes, hard damp floors, and the possibility of cuts, burns, bruises, and sprains while repairing equipment.
Education and Experience
- Must possess experience demonstrating knowledge of equipment and the ability to do routine jobs, simple preventative maintenance tasks, and use common tools and equipment.
- Candidate must have 12 months specialized experience using common hand and power tools, a small variety of test and measurement devices, and experience reading and interpreting parts lists, manufacturers' repair manuals, diagrams, and electrical schematics.
