What are the responsibilities and job description for the Distribution Purchasing Specialist position at Arnold Packaging?
Responsibilities :
Source and Procure Materials & Products : Identify and purchase necessary materials, products, and services required for Distribution operations, ensuring quality and timely availability.
Channel Partner Relationship Management : Collaborate with the Sales and Purchasing team to identify reliable Channel Partners and Suppliers, negotiate favorable terms, and nurture long-term relationships to ensure optimal performance.
Purchase Order Management : Prepare, process, and track purchase orders, ensuring accuracy, compliance with company policies, and timely delivery.
Inventory Monitoring and Replenishment : Regularly monitor inventory levels, analyze usage trends, and coordinate with Channel Partners and Suppliers to replenish stock on time, avoiding shortages and minimizing excess inventory.
Market Analysis and Procurement Strategy : Analyze market trends, pricing fluctuations, and competitive offerings to make data-driven purchasing decisions that support both short-term and long-term business goals.
Negotiation and Cost Optimization : Work with Channel Partners and Suppliers to negotiate the best pricing, payment terms, and conditions that align with the company’s budget and operational needs.
Cross-Functional Collaboration : Coordinate with internal teams, including Sales, Production, Logistics, and Warehouse management, to ensure seamless and timely delivery of materials and products.
Supplier Research & Evaluation : Research and evaluate potential new Suppliers, assessing their reliability, product quality, and capabilities to enhance the company’s Distribution procurement strategy.
Process Improvement : Assist in reviewing and optimizing Distribution procurement processes to increase efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance overall supply chain performance.
Recordkeeping and Reporting : Maintain accurate records of all purchases, pricing, supplier contracts, and procurement-related documentation to ensure transparency and traceability.
Qualifications :
- 5 years of experience in purchasing, procurement, or supply chain management within a distribution environment.
- Advanced Excel skills , including proficiency with functions like VLOOKUP / XLOOKUP, PivotTables, and data analysis techniques. Familiarity with using ERP software to manage purchasing processes, experience with Epicor Prophet 21 is a plus.
- Knowledge of purchasing best practices, supply chain operations, and inventory management.
- Strong negotiation skills with the ability to build and maintain positive relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining accuracy in purchase orders and records.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
