What are the responsibilities and job description for the Sexual Assault Services Advocate position at Aroostook Mental Health Services, Inc.?
AMHC is seeking a motivated individual in the Aroostook County area to fill their new Sexual Assault Services Client Advocate position. The Client Advocate is charged with supporting and expanding services for victims of sexual violence in rural populations and settings. This role will enhance strengths and address gaps unique to rural communities, by building relationships with other systems and providers and building capacity within the agency to ensure accessible and appropriate sexual assault advocacy services for specialized populations. The chosen candidate will be expected to demonstrate the core values of AMHC by showing Integrity, Compassion, Excellence, Service, Collaboration, and Respect to co-workers, clients, and community members.
Qualifications:
- A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
- A minimum of three years of volunteer or work experience providing direct support and education to clients and the community is required
- Bachelor's Degree in relevant field preferred
- Must have a driver’s license and reliable transportation.
- Ability to work flexible hours- weekends and evenings are required
Responsibilities & Expectations:
- Develop and maintain relationships with another service with a focus on Service and Respect
- Create cross-referral protocols and outreach plans in Collaboration with other service providers and community partners.
- Represent the agency and the needs of survivors of sexual violence at coalitions, task forces, and network meetings with Integrity
- Provide educational presentations and training programs in the community with Compassion
- Provide general and rural-specific awareness and outreach in the communities
- Assist victims following a sexual assault in obtaining necessary social/community services and resources.
- Provide support and information to victims of sexual assault with Excellence
- Offer support groups and direct services specialized to rural populations.
- Provide crisis and support line and/or in-person crisis support services to victims and family members
Schedule:
- this is a 40-hour-per-week position
- Flexible hours are necessary to meet the needs of the victims and families
- Participation in on-call after-hours rotation
